What is the O/U on cautions? I'll take the O on anything above 12.5
 
Are any ringers racing in the Cup race or just Xfinity? I’m eager to see the entry list
 
Going away from the original premise of what and how NASCAR was....just say'n.
 
yeah, I am going to miss both of the races at Watkins Glenn this year.. Beautiful place, great road course layout. I wish Cup would race at Elkhart Lake (Road America) another great layout with plenty of history when the Xfinity's race there. Daytona Road Course is all new and unproven, fingers crossed. Kudo's to Nascar to find a road course for us to watch whatever happens IMO.
 
Listen, I do not mind some road courses, but not at the elimination of a historically consistent NASCAR event. Changing that is changing the premise of the sport.

Daytona Super Speedway was built as a high speed oval for NASCAR....the road course was built for the junior leagues like F1 and other stuff like that.
 
They should really consider doing a 45 minute practice session just so it's not a complete disaster. They tested the hell out of the Roval before running it, doing this with big tube frame cars could be tough. It's why Watkins Glen is so good, it flows very well. Too many chicanes is going to be a mess

It's August in a pandemic, not July, 1978.

We are fortunate that our sport is operating in a reasonable manner, given the circumstances. What exactly is the premise of the sport? Historical consistency?

They did..not going to happen on any track for the rest of the year. :idunno:

Why did Bill France Sr. build the 2.5 mile super speedway? Apparently the inner road coarse is more important?

Yes...at least at a facility that is well established. Make another date....Road America or something like that...in September (any later and you would need snow tires).

The oval will be run two weeks later as @FLRacingFan pointed out.

I mean, that would be cool, but that would be completely left field for the Cup series as Road America is not yet on the Cup calendar. It was for the Xfinity series, hence why they were there this past weekend. This is a good time to see if running the roval at NASCAR's biggest money making track to put more people into seats... It's working because only five sections are available to purchase tickets for the race this weekend.

This is usually a road course weekend and Watkins Glen and Sonoma were unavailable. Daytona’s road course was available and a deal was struck. It’s not that complicated.

Although I would not mind a Sonoma race in summer.

NASCAR is still running the oval in a few weeks anyway. You’ll get your russian roulette wreckfest soon enough.

With ice cream or shampoo fine. But leave racing alone. If they think variety is what everyone wants then where will is stop. They may start running some races in the opposite direction or running some races in reverse.:)
 
Interesting take from Elliott who is a pretty damn good road racer. I forgot KDB ran the Rolex 24 this spring

Well that is your take and you may be right. I think it is a hell of a challenge for the best in the world and can't wait to see who rises to the challenge. Elliott drew down, on KDB, called him out into the spotlight because he ran the Rolex 24. Shaping up to be a hell of a race with big consequences if they screw up.

Chase should shoot for making a big time mistake and go like hell to make up for it. Worked last time.
