iTS HAPPENING/Deegan doing trucks @ Kansas

I wish the hype would die down. Does nothing but hurt her career. She had a good run, not really convinced on her even still. DGR-Crosley has a lot of work to get competitive with GMS, KBM, Thorsport, Hattori, etc.

I didnt expect her to jump in a truck never having driven one ever and get a top 20
Also isnt this the best finish for a woman in the trucks at kansas?
Does this mean Deegan will trade in her Mustang for a Ford raptor or something? If thats the case dad will be fighting her for the truck!
Do you folks see how excited this kid was after her race?
She was spooked on the hot pit stop as the truck was almost out of gas and loved the competion.

Oh, come on, this is nothing but a re-hash of all the Danica conversations.
It’s really not though. Danica was in IndyCar driver/super model with little racing success and made the decision not to get experience in stock cars before driving in Cup. Many felt that she never earned her spot on an A-tier team and was there due to sponsorship revenue.

Deegan has winning experience in stock cars, has made it clear that she does not want to be rushed and she has also said something to the extent of “do you want to look good on camera or on the track?”.

The only real argument that can make them comparable is that they are female racers in the national level of NASCAR - and if that’s the only argument that’s conjured up, that’s petty.

YES chex I head that comment she made. I think she was referring to decker. She really wants to race has a racing pedigree LIKES racing and I am not sure Patrick had the same passion I have never seen her over joyed getting out of a car like Deegan was. Thats what really won me over

You watched this? Helps explain her personality. And I agree about Decker. I find her very annoying. Too much huge smiling. Just looks fake.

You probably haven't been keeping up. Ford has been her sponsor for awhile. It's called marketing or marketable. She looks a hell of a lot better standing beside a Ford truck she is selling than some hairy leg
That's my point, and you're right, I haven't followed her too much. Her marketability is taking her places but I didn't realize it was going to carry her to cup. Thought she wasn't going to get to one of the premier NASCAR series until she proves she can win in ARCA.

But her run yesterday was impressive. She doesn't tear stuff up. I could be missing something there too, though.

How’s about you tell my why she will? That’ll be a shorter conversation.
How many drivers have won a Cup race this year and how do you feel she has the same cha-cha as those winners?
She's 18 lol

Brian drives a Ford Raptor P.U. And Hailey drives a Mustang GT, they have since the early K&N days. She is a

Yeah, What is missing by many is that she is hugely popular already, Nascar wants her in the series, and the money is coming from Ford for her to do so because she can sell Fords. It's just that simple. Doesn't make a dang if she wins, sure it would be a plus but it isn't that important. If she can keep the fenders on it, not make a fool out of herself like a certain other female did, she will advance in the series's. Some won't be able to wrap their brains around that reality but it is what it is. I think Nascar has the highest percentages of female fans, so that's a plus also.

Hopefully Hailie learns a lot about like and helping others in need as she grows up and will be as good as Danica has been off the track.

Joey, Kyle, Trevor and Erik all got Cup wins at 22 years old or less. How old will Hailey be when she gets her first Cup win?

I was a big fan of Brian Deegan and I can't wait to see Hailie win on one of the main NASCAR levels. She was great in ARCA this season, has a great personality and passion for racing.

Calling her Danica 2.0 is an insult lol

Eh, the proof is in the tweet I posted. Ford has her signed on a performance basis. One year and we will see how you do before going for two. IMO Danica muddied the waters for everyone to fall all over themselves hiring a female driver for huge bucks and multi year contracts. I don't think it will be a problem, she will perform well enough for a second year. I'm in no way saying that was Danica's fault, she had a big fat sponsor at first paying big bucks for her to be in the series....until their wasn't one. Like Danica it will all boil down to performance...off the track and on.

I know but others in this thread are basically calling her that in here already.
I wouldnt call it an insult. She won an Indy race, Sat on the pole at the Daytona 500,ran super competitive in Xfinity and should have a win except she got punted by that Canadian ( not aunty) made tons of money for her team and sponsors and had a positive influence on girls who want to race or just be a fan.

When a female does win a race, people like @BobbyFord will push the goal posts back and says “a female will never win a championship”.

The irony is heavy that “a female will never win a race” based on “stats and history”. With that logic, a driver as young as Kyle Busch would never win a race. Whoops.

Wrong.

I think I am going to find away to watch all Truck races next season
even if I have to give up Xfinity. Cindric should get at least 12 wins next season anyway.

I like the trucks, I try to watch when I can

The trucks have more down force and less HP than Cup or Xfinity, but I think the key is the younger drivers for the most part. Lots of thrills, spills and contact.

me too, They put on a good show, so much less criticizing every little thing and the announcing booth is better IMO, even better since Kurt will be there thru the end of the year.
I dont know man, I cant take Mikey.

The engines in Trucks are between 600-625 HP. That is more than 550 HP and less than 750 HP, according to my calculations. Xfinity is 650-670 from what I understand.

Probably a little more accurate are pole speeds I pulled up from last year's Texas

Trucks -----184.761
Xfinity ----190.705
Cup -------189.707

The HP differences are still there. All this shows is that variables such as weight differences, particular set ups, grip levels, and other factors determine speed in different types of vehicles.

What it shows is that aero is more important than horsepower. Some have a hard time grasping that rule of physics. If those figures that Gnome posted are correct the 550 HP (high drag package) isn't so high drag, or there is more HP than 550 compared to the trucks which is kinda my point? Should have said slower because Trucks are. They also have the highest down force of all of them according to Kurt Busch. The higher HP in the trucks came about because the OEM's were still dumping tons of money in their engines. (I'm not going to say which one but all one has to do is google and see who was pissed off) beating the first version of the spec motor and once again continueing to run up the costs in the lower series, so Illmore turned up the HP with Nascar's blessing. No substitue for cubic inches and the 396 Illmore engine has more of those than the 355's the trucks ran.

Drag and downforce are related but not the same thing, and the Truck bodies are very different aerodynamically from the cars. The Trucks also weigh 100-150 lbs more than the Cup cars. As you say, a lot of factors.
