Xfinity RACE thread --- Bristol

Surprising finishes for some

TBH: I'd rather have two consistently awesome races a year on paved Bristol, than a gimmick dirt race that will more likely than not lose its novelty within a few years.

And that's what will happen with dirt Bristol IMHO. The race will lose its novelty in a few years

I called it before the race. This one will be the best of the weekend, Bristol doesn't work that well unless they can touch and get a little rough around the edges.

Everyone was saying old Bristol after the dirt races, but I think THAT was it.
No, old Bristol would have meant Cindric punting Dinger going into 3 to win

Modern Bristol is better. We have the close racing of pre 2007 Bristol, with the side by side action of 2007-2016 Bristol

looked like a race to me and a pretty good one

Yes, but it was a lot closer to it.

I mean, it was

How much of it was novelty factor? Because to me that looked like too much of a crash fest, even by Bristol standards
Most of the fan base, me included wanted more diverse tracks. Dirt was on a couple surveys along with what tracks would you pick to have races on, and ratings on the current tracks. I think they got a pretty good idea of what to do. The L.A. thing had to come from left field, but with covid they were hurting from not being able to go there, so they are doubling up it looks like next year. A good primer for the new short track a year later after that.

The problem with the NASCAR dirt track gimmick is that these aren’t dirt cars. They should dole out spec Sprint cars if this is what they’re trying to push.
Let's give them all ATVs with 700 HP for the dirt and see who can really drive. :XXROFL: :pbjtime: :lurk:💩

I’d also like to see practice and qualifying return. This current gimmick isn’t working.
The guys with the most money are still winning.

These things are built better for dirt than they are road courses and fans eat that up.

Regardless, tonight showed the importance of having a car with some durability. That kind of hitting would be popping tires left and right at the cup level.

Anything but concrete/paved circuit cars with dirt tires. NASCAR fans aren’t that stupid.
I just want to see the failed gimmicks go away.
I don't see Goodyear making a special tire for one race for long

Nobody uses bias ply tires on road cars anymore outside of a niche crowd. That's why Goodyear provides tires for NASCAR, it's R&D

Why spend millions on a tire for one race where the data gained is almost completely useless and has few real world applications

And bias ply tires are basically obsolete tire tech

Thank you NASCAR for putting these races in the final round and cut off races. Just........ yeah. Oh what tomorrow will bring!
