The future of JGR

Honestly, I don't know how much his heart has been in it. He is visible, but how much is he doing day to day? I think that when JD passed, it was devastating in terms of the company's direction. My God, JD was responsible for going TRD engines, and shutting down the in house engine program. Coy's passing transcends devastation, and inches toward debilitation. You have Denny/FedEx contracts ending next year and Truex Jr. retiring. How much of this **** is Coach willing to navigate? I agree with you on 23XI.
Joe Gibbs is not the type to throw in the towel. I guarantee you that he will continue JGR to honor his sons and his focus will be on Ty and winning a Championship. He knows Ty has the talent to win at the Cup level and I expect nothing less than maximum effort to make it happen.

Take a look at Bobby Allison, from the highest of highs to the lowest of lows.Won 85 races and the Cup Championship but almost lost his life in Pocono. Then the unthinkable happens, lost both of his sons that shattered his family and caused his divorce from Judy. So what was his medicine? What was the best way for him to recover and the answer was clear, to start his own race team and remain in a sport, a sport that gave him fame and fortune and a sport that gave him tremendous pain and heartache but even so he had to be around it, its in his DNA and almost impossible to walk away from.

I think Joe falls in to that category, I believe it will be his medicine. I believe it will be his mission to help Ty win a Championship and keep the memory of JD and Coy alive.

I hope so. I love Bobby. Great comparison. Thank you.

Correctamundo Potsie!!!

and Joe Gibbs didnt have to recover from a brain Injury and broken bones but Bobby did and he didnt let it stop him.

True, but Bobby was only what, 51 years old at the time of his accident, and perhaps you would be a better judge of this than I, but I bet post accident, Bobby wasn't exactly rolling in cash. I always wondered just how much of his own money went into that team. Regardless, he had a heck of a lot more motivation to stay in the racing game, the only life he had ever really had than the much older multi-multi millionaire Joe Gibbs who is much less defined by his racing endeavors than Bobby is. I don't really think Joe will walk away either, but by the same token I wouldn't be all that shocked if he did, or at least took on a partner and assumed a reduced role.

Yeah, it's not like 'stay or go' are Joe's only options.

Why do you try to pick things apart when the answer is right in front of you. Bobbys motivation were his sons, Joes motivation is his sons and the future of his grandson in racing.

Try saying that again when your eighty. Age doesn't mean **** except it may take you longer at times.
Well, that's an amiable attitude. Kudos to you. Personally at 55, I'm just getting tired. I've been running around with my hair on fire since I was a teenager, and my desire to keep doing that is rapidly diminishing. For about fifteen years, my dad and I ran a small property services business, doing maintenance work for housing additions and the homeowners. It was a second job for me and a retirement job for my dad. About three years ago my dad become no longer really able or interested in the business, and I COULD have kept it going, and financially I probably NEEDED to keep it going, but frankly, I just don't have what it takes anymore to work 12-14 hour days during the week and then do another 10-16 hours on the weekends. At some point, there just HAS to more to life than working, especially if you don't really have to. Joe has more than earned the right to do whatever the hell he wants to, and doesn't have an obligation or owe an explanation to his departed sons, his grandson, or anyone else for that matter. At this point in his life, if he is going through all of this just because of what somebody else wants or would have wanted, then his life must be pretty empty.

He has a building with his name on it that he built with the hard work of thousands including his sons and I'm sure as long as he draws a breath he will be involved and Ty Gibbs is the primary reason along with the hundreds of families that work for him. So you see its not what they want but what he wants for them. If you and apparently a few others dont get it by now, I cant help you.

I think the other piece here is that Coach has options. I have read his books. He has had failed businesses in his past, and has learned a ton. While his vision for JGR will not be as he had planned, he will walk--or not--on his terms.

You confuse "talking down" with enlightening and the education I provide. I got that education learning and listening from the greats, just trying to pass it on. I dont care if you listen or not. But it shows lol
Lmao, you actually perceive the way you phrase things here to providing enlightenment and education? The majority of your comments are nothing but insults.

Okay...... I dont know how to say this. This might also get deleted but I want you all to know this is coming from a good place. I also dont know if Im qualified enough to bring this up. But here goes......IMO, There's been a huge problem in decorum here lately and with the way we interact with each other. I feel theres alot of talking down to between members and Im not going to name names or participants but just look through the threads here. Its been kind of hostile lately, I also feel the hostility has been boiling for a long time. I got into a brouhaha with a member about 2 weeks ago which Im not proud of because I try to get along with everyone. The world is already a $hitty enough place to where real world interactions with people can be tough, it doesnt need to be tough here. Thats why I had to take a small break and if you see, I dont really post here alot anymore either, I used to come on here every day while I took a small lunch break at work and if I had free time at home but frankly I've found other avenues to occupy my time if I had a small moment. I also dont want to seem thats the ONLY reason I dont post with greater frequency as work has been busy and my family has needed a greater amount of my attention. I never came on here to educate, shout down, give anyone a hard time and I feel most if not all probably had the same intention. Some where along the way, its gotten warped imo.

I just hate to see posters get shot down with claims of yelling at clouds ( I've never seen someone do this, I dont even know what that means), death bedding, or being overly negative. Sure there are probably some posters who are bitching and being negative every time it seems they post, but who cares? Ignore em and move on, theres no need to belittle anyone. I dont want to contribute to anyone's mental health struggle, sure I'll bust balls or used to on here, but just for a laugh or two. I've always equated interacting on here to being at the bar with your buddies and watching a race. A little thoughts on the race, some ball busting and then overall having a decent time. However with the way some of you all are talking to each other on here, Im not sure it wouldnt end in fisticuffs if you were interacting face to face. Why is that?

In closing, I want to see the hostility among members die down a bit and things unthaw, this is still a cool place to be. I really believe that. Its a hell of a lot better than Reddit, Facebook comments and the cesspool known as Twitter. When I first joined I thought there was more tolerance of different ideas and opinions about what we were watching. I would venture to say thats not really the case now. Every thread I feel like I popped into lately has been a battle amongst posters. Of course Im not as plugged in as I usually am, but from my interactions with some and what I See with others I dont regret not posting as often. I even feel bad I came on now to say all this, but I'll just say that I hope everyone tries to interact with each other more favorably and try to stay on topics of the thread instead of pissing matches (which yes I myself am guilty of)and the overall anger of the board.

At least you live in fantasy land. I’ll give you that.
Fantasy is you thinking someone will knock my teeth out when you dont know a damn thing about me, you're living in fantasy land on this board. Tell me, what kind of response did you think you were gonna get when you said that? I've met people from this board and we got along great. Like I said, you have two problems, reading comprehension and waay to sensitive.

You’re not wrong. Even before the season ended it seemed like the active user base and amount of engagement here was dwindling. Bullying the forum into an echo chamber is a horrible long-term tactic for a forum.

What in the hell does this have to do with the future of JGR? except the mods have a whole lot of clean up to do?
I also tried getting things back on track last night with my "garage 56 entry" post in relation to the new car and things in here devolved even further. Why that is I dont know.

Lmao, you actually perceive the way you phrase things here to providing enlightenment and education? The majority of your comments are nothing but insults.
Since I've been edited, show me my insults. Thanks

oh dear...... appreciate the kind words. I think thats enough for me today lol
Thanks @Jorge De Guzman for your perspective and comments. Agree that the arguments and hostility seems too prevalent too often. We have members with distinctive personalities, and that’s great. The challenge for all is to not allow the anonymity of these forums to dehumanize good civility. I enjoy good fun when folks chide each other relative to racing…that’s what friends do! But friends also know when to not cross that line. I know I’ve had my moments of getting ticked at comments, and I have to sometimes step back from the keyboard, or erase what I was going to write and move on.

Lastly, the value of this forum to me goes beyond racing chatter. Over the years being here, I have felt a connection to all you folks. If there was an in-person “convention” where we actually gathered and met one another, does anyone think there would be tempers flaring and fist fights? Heck no. I think it would be just like an infield party at the racetrack, where we’d enjoy each other’s company and laugh over the nomination for the most hilarious threads!
