I like what UPS is doing with the #1 car to fuel the rift between the #1 and #11, but IMO this is a terrible attempt at a throwback

UPS had the "what can the brown do for you" DJ campaign back in the day.
With Ross the campaign will be directed toward the competition "What will the brown do to you".
 
Looks like Chastain is entered in all three races. Make of that what you will. I remember this as the track where he first caught my attention battling with Harvick. I wouldn't sleep comfortably if I was a watermelon.

The Goodyear sponsorship insignia shown above the entry list is more of a diamond-shape than the egg-shaped oval that we all love. The continued changes like the car number placement and potential perversion of the trackshape is one of many great concerns.

What's going to happen when they decide that a square like quad-oval shape fits better on a mointor? That's when they will start bulldozing and reconfiguring our beloved egg-shaped oval. The Dalington stripe will be gone forever, and they will just have a turn #2 stripe.
 
I've already see that title car, from the Rockingham stands on the day Matt clinched the title.

I never thought I'd see the phrase 'Buckshot Jones throwback scheme'.

Love the DJ / UPS tribute! I just wish they'd gone full 'Banana Fudgesicle'.

Not gonna lie. I think I like this one more than the current HendrickCars.com one but I seriously wanted a Terry Labonte scheme on the 5. Maybe one year soon they will do it.

Minimum Recommended Inflation: Left Front — 20 psi; Left Rear – 22 psi; Right Front — 48 psi; Right Rear — 44 psi

Storyline – Darlington’s abrasive nature leads to great racing: Darlington Raceway has perhaps the most abrasive track surface on the NASCAR Cup circuit, so tire wear will be a big part of the story this weekend. Teams will be busy with four-tire stops all race, and tire management will be at the top of mind for all drivers. Those that are easier on their tires early in a run will be able to gain track position later in a run as fall-off will be more than two seconds per lap. Depending on how cautions fall, Cup teams may choose to short pit and not go a full fuel run, realizing the benefit of having fresh tires. With 11 sets of tires for the 293-lap Cup race, teams will take four tires at almost every opportunity. All this, ultimately, makes a great race for the fans. Tire wear and tire management leads to more “comers” and “goers” over a run, and that means more passing throughout the field.
“The spring race at Darlington is a big one for those of us at The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, it being the Goodyear 400. This is our third year as the race sponsor, and we have a special sidewall design this year that throws back to 1898 and celebrates our company’s 125th anniversary. That fits nicely with this being NASCAR’s 75th year, considered the long and successful relationship we have had together,” said Greg Stucker Goodyear’s director of racing. “On the track, Darlington has a very abrasive racing surface and will wear tires heavily. Four-tire pit stops will be important for the teams and tire management will be important for drivers. Tire wear always leads to a lot of passing throughout the field, which means a great race for the fans.”

Notes – Cup tires get construction update for Darlington: . . . these are two different tire codes than what Cup teams ran at Darlington last season, featuring a construction update on both the left- and right-side tires . . . Cup teams ran this same tire combination at Homestead last October . . . in 2023, they have run this right-side tire code at Kansas last weekend, as well as at Fontana and Las Vegas earlier in the season. . . with this 18-inch tire, and its lower profile sidewall, NASCAR Cup cars will not run inner liners in any of their tires in 2023.

Throwback weekend – Goodyear to run special 125th Anniversary logo at Darlington this year: In support of the sport’s “throwback” initiative, the Goodyear tires run in all three NASCAR national series at Darlington this week will feature a different sidewall design than the yellow Goodyear Eagle lettering teams normally run . . . the vintage logo sidewall design features the historic Goodyear Wingfoot logo, originally created in 1898 (photo attached).

Goodyear Blimp – Florida-based airship over Darlington all weekend: “Wingfoot Two” will be in the air over Darlington Raceway for the entire weekend . . . this airship is based out of Pompano Beach, Fla. . . . Wingfoot Two will provide aerial coverage of all three of NASCAR’s national series races at Darlington for Fox Sports.

I feel they should stay separate, I don't have much interest in the pictures of the throwbacks and the prerace info that I do enjoy gets lost in all the throwback stuff.

Really like the pit crew names listed on door front. It wasn't unusual to see that back in the day. I think it was classy and a good way to respect those that were helping a driver chase the dream.

There was a great road culture. When you pulled your car into the pits in most cases you were putting all your extra money, even borrowed money and all your dreams into that set of wheels.
It isn't overly dramatic to say it was your blood, sweat, tears and passion that was all on that rolling chasis.

Racing is tough and the competition is a high strung crowd that is awake at 2am trying to figure out how to beat you. But when you pulled your trailer into the pit area there was a culture of respect. You knew you was putting everything you had into the arena, and that they were too.

People you hardly knew would help you load and unload your car. The competition would fight you like a possessed beast on the track, but they would loan you a part prior to the race to give you a chance to beat them.

You really need an army of at least two three loyal pit crew members to help with all of the late night hours between races to keep on showing up. Good to see them getting some throwback respect.

Danbury Racearena. I lived 8 minutes away. Never got to see them there. Like many tracks it was destroyed and turned into a mall in the 80s. Fun fact- the Mayor of Danbury got busted on huge corruption charges when the mall was built for taking bribes from executives. It was also built on incredibly unstable swamp land and the mall still shakes/moves to this day and some locals refuse to step foot in it as they feel it could collapse at any minute. Will be honest though.... unlike many malls today this one is still massively successful and one of the best malls in the area. Still a shame to lose a tight bullring like that tho.
