Silly Season 2024

This is an interesting comment from Smith …

“Team owners will tell you this – it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to go to Xfinity unless you’re already in it. You’re almost racing time.”

I think it was the DBC podcast that says the xfinity cars and the cup cars drive so much different now there’s not a lot of similarities. Truck racing is such an aero game wnymore that there’s a lot more carryover from trucks than xfinity.

Hamilton couldn't cry any worse than Truex or Hamlin.
Denny is not bad....I can't listen to Truex--even leading. I really don't think he is a crier so much as this is just the way he is when the adrenaline is pumping.

Correct. This was a couple weeks back when they had Chandler Smith on the show.

Berry's name is the one that comes up most in discussions, for what it's worth. I can ask around this weekend.

Any (realistic) chance we see Corey lajoie in a competitive ride next year?

Possibly.

Many would probably be very surprised about landing spot, if it happens.
This confirms it. A surprise. Corey to the 9 as punishment for snowboarding. Remember when he was asking Hendrick for a shot a couple years ago?

 ;) ;) ;) :owquitit:

Just my guess - Bowman comes back for the 600 and Berry’s deal with SHR is announced that week.

I'm Ford...I'm telling hey Front Row Zane is going to drive the 10 but we're giving you X driver for replacement and $$$ more support to compensate you
People thought a buyout from a team bigger than FRM was an improbability last year, and it wound up happening. That was even across manufacturer lines. If SHR have another vacancy I’m sure they and Ford would be able to put together a decent package for FRM. I doubt Zane is under contract for major money for the time being.

I saw someone with The Athletic wrote a piece on the silly season possibilities for 2024. I'm not a subscriber. Anyone who is that can share some of what was in it?

Do you work for Ford? Because you are closer than you think to being correct.

I think this could be a big week for determining what Corey Lajoie may be doing next season.
Im cautiously optomistic. Im just afraid he'll run average or try to press and get caught up in something.

Probably not fair that he only one race to show what he has but thats just how it goes.

The only real update was that Al Mirola is expected to step away (for real this time) after 2023, and SHR’s most likely options are Zane Smith or Michael McDowell as a bridge option. They added FRM are in a different position this year as they’re the first domino to fall really, with three drivers for two seats, instead of being able to lock everything up very late in the offseason as they typically do. And all three are drivers that intrigue other teams.

Lajoie may be better off signing a 1-year extension with Spire, he had drawn some interest from Trackhouse but their interest in expanding to three cars has cooled off for the time being. Wood Brothers could be an option but Harry Burton’s chances of staying are at 50/50 now and climbing upwards.

The thing is I'm not sure Chase would really be a top 10 car this week had he been in the car. This seems like a track that HMS likely doesn't put the effort into compared to tracks in the playoffs

They have 2 cars outside looking in.

They’ll throw the kitchen sink at the 48 and the 9 ... with or without the petulant child in the seat.

This place has been trying to fire Denny for years. It's good first step his sponsor being signed to maybe his eventual resigning with the 11.
Agreed. If indeed FedEx reups I’m sure he’ll be the one driving their car. Who knows maybe he can coerce FedEx to join 23XI once he retires.

I don’t particularly like Denny but he doesn’t deserve the hate he gets. You’d think he personally attacked some posters on here based on their posts. If he wasn't in a Toyota he wouldn’t get half the hate he gets.

agreed. I find him humorous and somewhat annoying. But he doesnt bother me much, I think he's had a hell of a career and still has a bit a ways to go.
