Cup RACE thread --- 600

I love Ryan Blaney’s class after a win. No infantile burnout, just appreciation to the fans and team.

And starting to Love Chase. Putting Hacklin in his place once again!
I agree with the first paragraph. I do not agree with intentionally hooking a quarterpanel.

In case you missed the memo, Larson is the prize pony. Chase has moved into the Jr role and is merely there to sell tons of merch. And he was 100% wrong in how he retaliated, not in that he retaliated.

Dude Chase is a series champion haha! Also him and Denny go way back…

Oh I LOATHE 10k Dennis, but holy crud man Elliott fans have no leg to stand on this time. And he hasn't done anything of note in nearly a year. Dominated all year last year until it counted and then this debacle of a season... In the same time, Larson has dominated and Byron has come into his own. Chase's time may be ending and like I said he's a ceremonial Jr figurehead now to sell merch and win once a season. I will reverse course when he wins again and shows life, but right now it's pretty bleak. And that was before he brought the entire media down on himself... (I'm well aware how melodramatic I'm being, but there's very little happiness in my fandom right now and I'm trying to be honest and show the anti-Chase crowd that I hear them.)

I really don't know why I'm, as my kids would say, all up in my feelings over this. I think it's a combination of so many real life things going on along with sports fandom fails. I apologize to you all.

It will all work out even with the expected suspension. Racers have hot and cold streaks and I fully expect Chase Elliot to eventually get hot again.

Most everyone is justly talking about the precedent that was set with Bubba Wallace's suspension last year. It is also noteworthy that Wallace is probably performing or driver better now after that suspension than he ever has. I expect a rebound for Elliott as well.

I don't get memos from that team....and I am good with that.

Dude, let this stuff take you away from real life....and the Chase's fail should fuel you. Fandom is at its best when your guy/team is at its worst. Hang in there.

Good on Blaney for finally closing out a dominant win.

Lost the lead and was able to get it back and set sail. Best car in the field, and his first win on pure speed

I think it's entirely normal that you feel the way that you do. Chase is your favorite driver, and you obviously care deeply for the sport. We want our drivers to succeed, and we want them to represent the sport well. You've watched your favorite driver look like the championship favorite for 6 months, only to fall off in pace. Then, to start the new year, his teammates are winning races, and before Chase can take advantage of the speed the team has, he injures himself doing something he likes. Comes back out of rhythm, then acts like this. Chase isn't having fun. And his cup career these last 9 months have been a major struggle. Of COURSE it's gonna bum you out. Why wouldn't you be disappointed?

Chase has had a tough go. I don't think it's reasonable to call him an underachieving cash cow. He's still won 7x since 2021, which is 2nd or 3rd most. Speed fell off last year, and this year has been a mess. He'll get back to rhythm. I don't think he'll be a dominant force, but he'll be a top 5 driver in the sport for the foreseeable future and probably has another 35 wins and a championship left him.

Don't apologize, and accept this reframe!

Not at all racing or Cup-related but the Tuesday after Memorial Day Weekend is hands down one of the worst days of the year.
I feel similarly. I took today off for a long weekend.

Yesterday was obviously miserable. Woke up yesterday morning with vertigo, no idea why. Wasn't myself until about 6:30pm..today, I'm just exhausted, and need to find a reason to get out of the house and take advantage of the weather..otherwise I'll be sulking too.

It's unreasonable to lose all perspective and have a completely biased view of events that occur. See cults:

I like Dr UNC, and really am just offering some kind words to a good poster who is seemingly bummed out.

I agree it is unreasonable to lose all perspective, and I do think some drivers have a cult like fanbase. I think Dr UNC is just sulking over it and being emotional/dramatic. He's not out of touch, like some fans are.

I took Friday off, when a holiday usually falls on a Monday I take that Friday off. In 11 years of being self employed I am not smart enough to figure out that taking the day off AFTER instead of before the Holiday might help, I could have grinded my way through this past Friday and been done with it until Weds. Oh well someday I'll figure it out. Hope you feel better and you enjoy the day today.

Me when even chase fans are calling for chases head and I don’t get to troll them about the situation

I know...some of the one's that are usually in another world seem to have a good grasp of reality with this issue.

No fun....:(;)
I’m actually shocked tbh that I’m not the only Chase fan who was calling him out on it. Really felt that most of the others would have an excuse and I was glad to see I’m wrong.

Thank you. I'm good today. I do the same thing, but typically with Tuesdays. Fridays are too busy at work

Chase hasn’t done as well with less horsepower, same for Harvick. You bring back that umph at short tracks and road courses and Chase will deliver wins

Maybe that’s a testament to how damned bad/stupid/ugly this was: we couldn’t deny it if we tried

Paying tribute to an American who gave the ultimate sacrifice, and letting his family know that it was not in vain. God bless JGR and Bass Pro Shop. Made me tear up!!
