Guessing this one will be pretty chaotic…1.7-mile track where about half of that is the 190 MPH straight from turn 2 into the turn 3 hairpin. Very tight and bumpy in some other corners. Also, split pit lane.

I've drawn tracks with that in the past...did not think I'd actually see a real one

They are going to tear up a lot of stuff tomorrow. Helio blew up when he hit a bump so hard the gearbox downshifted! I'm guessing there will be more than one half shaft failure.

I’d be surprised to see a ‘long’ green flag cycle this weekend. It will be interesting to maybe note what ends up being the longest run that takes place.

Turn 1 run off is going to collect many names it looks like… also I forget which turn it is, but a really narrow area where the tire barrier extends out, is likely to see many race cars.

Whoever can get acclimated to the bumps will be the key.

Track layout seems reaallllyyyy narrow for these cars though, speaking from my keyboard lol…

I see a lot of red flags coming in qualifying, the timing of which will probably shake up the grid.

There hasn’t been as much contact as I thought but just tons of guys going into the runoff and trying to get it spun back around.

This track is WAY too bumpy. Need a damn Z71 suspension to get thru here

💯

Didn't they drive a rental car around the place to check the place out when they first knew they were going to race there? No excuse for this.
I could be wrong but I thought they even resurfaced a few sections of the track. Apparently not well enough. It’s crazy how unsettled the cars are getting in big braking zones and the corners. Incredible that only two cars have had real crash damage so far.

Caught the end of the NXT race and was actually pleasantly surprised by the racing. Devastating finish though. Siegel had made a great pass around the outside of turn 3 for the lead just a few laps earlier. Wonder if the track banged the gearbox to bits…

Looking back at some bad street tracks, San Jose was really bad, but Houston was especially pitiful. Nashville is still so awful I won't even watch it. Who can forget the San Jose and Baltimore trolly tracks?

The first time they go to a new street track, there's always problems, and it always seems to be problems you would see just walking the track or driving a rental car around it. Like, how did they miss the trolly tracks? How do you pour millions into an event and not even walk the track to see where your money is going?

Right now the odds are 3 to 1 this will be a Twilight Zone special.

Just finished catching up on yesterday’s track activities… Palou is on a roll lately, big speed for him in qualifying

I too am surprised at the layout, looking at things from the armchair in the first practice I was just thinking “really?!” lol… some of the stuff that got adjusted before practice session 2 seems like it could’ve been assessed by anyone just golf carting through the layout before the series even arrived as @Doc Austin said

Im glad Marcus made the Final 6! I was hoping he would end up with a inside row position going into first corner of this race though :oops:

This could be complete insanity

Field too spread out, Drivers 8th on back wanted to take the start single file…

indycar: “Nope!” *yellow flag* “we want chaos in turn 1”

Edit

Results, one car ends up on the back of another

I hope Rossi lands up in the stands. After he tried to run me over with a scooter down in St Petersburg 2 years ago when I asked for his autograph. He won't get much anymore. I put a jinx on him.

Nice dummy move by Power on Ericsson. Looks like they’re finally starting to stretch their legs.

There's Dixon- just biding his time till he gets the win.

Changing tires already? He must have picked up a nail. Tough luck.

Embarrassing start, including the initial waved-off green, but this has been racy and clean since.
Yea i really think it was smart by all those cars out of top 10 to kinda string out.

This is good stuff we have seen though. Even with all the cars forcing an overtake by late braking these corners, they’re showing why this series has the best/most competitive field in racing

And who is this clown with the New York Yankees baseball hat on in Detroit. I'll bet they love him.
