I believe the majority of fans are disappointed with the direction of the sport.
Maybe seeing a driver remain competitive regardless of the changes has inspired fans to support someone they normally wouldn’t have recognized.

Jesus Christ, this is a tremendous leap in logic. The cheers for KFB have nothing to do with fans being disappointed in the direction of the sport.
 
Only thing I personally dislike about Fox is how they don’t talk about things needing talked about. The announcers don’t bother me like they do a lot of others.
For me it’s the pedantic “aw shucks” redneckifying of everything. It’s actually quite insulting, and I grew up in East BFE, NC.
 
I still hate him, but I’ve softened due to real life bs. Much like Gordon. I wouldn’t have peed on him if he were burning to death, then the divorce and all suddenly humanized him to me. I dunno…
I still ain’t a fan either. But I’m sure like many drivers who I wasn’t a fan of in the past (Gordon being one) and by the time he’s done I’ll probably actually cheer him because of seeing an all time great calling it a career. Respect
 
He suddenly became popular because he switched to Chevy.

Go look back at how people said they can now root for him since he’s in a Chevy or isn’t in a Toyota. Go look at Chevy fans on social who won’t root for Berry if he goes to a Ford.

A lot of fans are cult-like in their brand loyalty the same way @Revman is.

I was loyal to Chevy back in the 90s and 00s but I still hated Hendrick Motorsports. I just rooted for DEI and RCR. Being loyal to a manufacturer used to not mean being a cultist.

Toyota Corollas are insanely reliable vehicles.

I don’t like GM vehicles. Personal preference. And I’m even less likely to ever buy one since they’re dropping CarPlay support.

I still root for Ross Chastain and Josh Berry though. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I’m driver oriented. I don’t care what Kyle drives. I’ve supported him throughout his career, in many cars.
Happy to see Kyle winning with RCR.
This is how I am also. Never been a Ford guy, but my favorite driver growing up was Jeff Burton as I mentioned before. Loved cheering on that 99 car.

I’ve been a Ford guy my entire life, because of my family.
I love cars. I’d own thousands of cars if I had the money and the space. I don’t discriminate when it comes to manufacturer. Too many incredible options.

Ford and Chevy loyalty is endearing....Toyota loyalty is a different matter. I get it. I always have. Honestly, I think the new KB love is kind of cool....shows me that manufacturers matter. He's the same dude he has always been, enjoy the smiles, Samantha nervous ticks, love for Randall, and hugs for his kids...it can change quickly....3-2-1...

This sport is so driver centric--I get it, but that is one reason why we have trouble attracting new fans. You have so much more in terms of the engineering that goes into the cars....and the people behind the engines and the sim stuff. It is all so cool, but the ****** media prefers the behind the scenes stuff from the drivers. I don't buy into all of that, and I want MY manufacturer to kick the others asses.

I don't know man - F1 is experiencing a boom because of a Netflix reality show that exposed that. And the NBA seems to thrive on people being fans of individual players and not teams (look at how LeBron James has fans that follow him from team to team).

I'm not even drawing a comparison. I am pointing out that people will follow a sport that is centered on individual personalities. NASCAR's own past proves that. NASCAR is centered around the driver and always has been. If you want a team sport, watch a non-racing sport (or stick and ball as you call it).

Nascar isn't as simple as you are trying to make it. You have two choices in stick n ball, the player or the team, the fields are all the same, the rules are the same, it's a simple game, the equipment is simple and all the same. They have a whole 100 years of TV coverage Max, all at slow speed, more timeouts than a person can count. Where is the similarity? None of the above applies to racing.

I feel like you're starting an argument for no reason because I implied none of that.

Where's the similarly between any two sports? Football and baseball are also entirely different sports. This is an asinine argument. Every sport is unique and has its quirks. Anyone who drones on about "stick and ball sports" is a very unserious person. Auto racing, baseball, football, hockey, lacrosse, tennis, golf...etc. are all unique disciplines with their own unique rules and histories. It helps to have some perspective.
 

Anyone who says "stick and ball" is only interested in a discussion built on the false premise that auto racing is somehow a unicorn in the sports world. You can't have an honest discussion built on false premises.
 
For a flat track I’m surprised at how much this place widens out.

Maybe they could bring the short track package here next year.

I thought today’s race was decent, didn’t have that exCitEmEnT GWC finish like last year.

This Gen7 needs a bit more horsepower at short tracks & road courses.

Payback for…? I didn’t even see anything else between the two. It looked like Dillon started to come up slightly just as Cindric started to turn in. I hope we don’t do this now every time someone gets wrecked. It wasn’t like Cindric swung hard left like Chase.

I thought it was fine, felt a bit long even on DVR but it wasn’t horrible. Sometimes on this forum you’d think half the users are replaying the 2008 Brickyard 400. Gateway is just a technical track where it’s gonna take a while to make a pass on someone. But more power and less downforce wouldn’t hurt, make it tougher to out the power down off these paperclip corners.
