Golf Thread

Almost as excited for this years Masters as I am a Ryder Cup.
PGA vs. LIV

uh oh Brooks has taken the lead, that's not supposed to happen since he doesn't play competitive golf anymore, what will the pga pivot to next? brandel chamblee doesn't approve.

2022 US Amateur Champion Sam Bennett starts birdie, eagle at Augusta.

This guy is fun to watch.
Finished at -4 yesterday ... no bogeys.

Shoots 68 again today (1bogey) ... all alone in second place, 4 back of Koepka as this is written. Rahm might catch him but the weather is closing in.

First time since 1958 that an amateur has occupied 2nd place on any day at The Masters. He’s a cool customer. Very confident.

At my local muni range, this was my Masters

The ace was right out of a story book.

Great guy … sponsor exempt at Colonial this week.

The more I think about this the more I would like
to see all the current PGA golfers break away and
create their own tour. I think Tiger and some corporate
backers could lead the charge. Who knows what the
legal ramifications are and even if its feasible but they
should at least get some phone calls going.

It would not surprise me one bit if the Saudis paid big
bucks directly to each one of the PGA executives to make
this unthinkable merger happen.

It was happy news when Sportscar and Indycar finally
got their act together and merge their repective sanctions.
This PGA/LIV merger is a whole new level of dissapointment.

Seeing all the best golfers compete against each other on a weekly basis seems better than having the tour divided. All of the sudden fans have morals. They’re typing their thoughts in on their iPhones sitting in front of their Samsung televisions after getting back from filling their cars gas tank up with gas refined from Saudi oil. The post above is absolutely correct….. Everything is connected. As a fan, I’m all about seeing the best out on the course. It’s a win for me. Maybe others need to tune out?

👏

As the poster said above, "All of a sudden fans have morals" which is true
except for the word "sudden".
They're just the same morals of the PGA golfers who did not jump to LIV from the beginning.

What was sudden here is the change of the PGA's front office's moral compass.

Choosing not to watch a sportwashing government-owned sports league is a pretty easy consumption choice to make. I don’t pick where my oil comes from.

Absolutely correct…. Bad phrasing on my part. I should have said selective morality. We're good with the gas in our tanks but want our golf Saudi free.

Obviously money drove the PGA's decision. Same as most businesses.

Link to story - It appears the Saudi's are "standing up for the Palestinian cause".
That may be a fly in the ointment for PGA/LIV.

December 31 is the deadline for the PGA / LIV merger final closing.
Its being rumored that Monohan will not return after that.
What a cluster. Tiger is getting more active on the PGA board.
Maybe he can save professional golf as we know it in the US.
