Yeah, I'll admit reddit is a great source, but the crowd there? Generally speaking, most of them are over emotional and wayyy over the top. Imagine a teenage AndyMarquis on cocaine....that's 75% of the NASCAR subreddit lol

eh, they are trollies in practice, most of them are the sheep, one says it and the all pile on lol. I seldom comment, but because they have such a larger following they find more racing info when info is scarce for the most part.
 
Here's a notion. No practice, one car qualifies at a time, 3 qualifying laps, one round, fastest lap counts. There's your shakedown time.
 
It's start them up and qualify everywhere at the Supers and the baby. I'm not for practice myself, it's drastic, it's cutting and brutal, but these teams are supposed to be the best. Start at the back if you aren't.

You mean you don't like hearing about how NASCAR is incompetent and on its death bed while the Gen 7 is a screaming death machine that is even less safe than the Gen 4? And also SVG is the GREATEST DRIVER EVER and totally better than guys who have been doing this for years!

And racing at Atlanta hasn't been the same since. They have to put it back into the drivers' hands to see who can navigate that horsepower and handling the best, not who has the best engineers that luck up on the right set up in cars that are almost the same.

That's the way to be IMO. The twin 150's were the best in awhile. Split screen on 7 time. Is he going to squeak his way in or not and Reddick in the third turn on the last lap passing for the win showing on the other screen is the race that opens up the season. Bad ass stuff.

It’s a shame they don’t seem to have the $$$ for a progressively banked Atlanta at 23°-25° or something.

I’ve noticed tracks like Las Vegas, Iowa, Kansas have an easier time getting good racing going with progressive banking in the corners in the new age of asphalt.

The racing seems to change a bit every year as the pavement ages. The1st year they were packed up, lately they are spread out more. I don't know what the heck is going to happen. I think it is going to be a good one if the weather holds.

Plate racing is okay, watching it on tv. But in deciding what race to go to this year, I had originally thought Atlanta, because I want to make another trip to the city sometime, and the only other time I went to the track, the weather was freezing! BUT, after remembering it’s a plate race now, I changed my mind. Pack racing is okay to watch on tv, but I was bored out of my mind when I went to Talladega years ago. Maybe a 1.5 mile track would be more entertaining, but I don’t know.

I used to love Atlanta, but now, I’d rather skip and go to pretty much any other Southern track instead.
 
With 37 cars on the entry list
how many pit stalls are not being used, that could be used?
there has to be more than 37 pit stalls.........we used to have 43 cars running!

how many charters are there with a guaranteed spot? (guessing there are 35)
I thought the reason for the charter was if a team has a bad qualifying effort, they would not miss the race.

for instance this week
if there are 40 pit stalls only 37 cars entered
if Chase Elliot wrecked in qualifying, no biggie, he is still racing cause there are available pit stalls.
what's the need for a charter?
enter and you're guaranteed to race.
Surely in the long run the charter money teams receive, does not offset the cost of a charter.

now if there are 37 pit stalls and 45 cars entered, charters make a difference.

my understanding of buying a charter was for giving the team value whenever the team was sold.

What the hell are you talking about.
 
Ya know, some of the Nascar administrative particulars in many areas just really aren't anybodies business but are between the parties that are involved. They try to keep it private, but some things leak out, some true, some probably not, and we have fans who manage to pop off a cork and go on a tangent over misinformation that doesn't affect them one bit. We have pages of that stuff here.

If I had to guess? The Atlanta race isn't paying out over 28 million dollars like Daytona did. Things are going to be different.

The number of available pit stalls has nothing to do with field size or who gets in. If there are more than 40 cars entered, after qualifying two of the teams without charters are going home. If the #9 didn't have a charter and Chase wrecked in qualifying, he wouldn't be in the race.
