Cup RACE thread --- Texas

Hell of a race. Congrats Chase Elliott.

Yep. But people will still say it was Byron’s fault lmao
So Ross should have just kept it floored and killed his car off the wall. Got it

Go run into a car from behind on the road and explain why you weren’t at fault because they slowed down

I’m a Hendrick fan by the way

I’m surprised Ross really didn’t have anything there. Just couldn’t hang and then got out of shape in 1/2 at the end.

Whoop whoop. Congrats to Elliott. Overdue.

Glad an HMS car that wasn't the 24 wins when the 5 is slapping the field. That was becoming a trend. HMS winning when the 5 has issues is still a thing.

Hamlin choked. Ross got Annihilated by Byron after Brad K almost got Annihilated by Byron. Brad K had us convinced for a bit.

And the last 8 laps took an hour.

A typical NASCAR race. Not bad. There was passing, a few guys even made passes for the lead.

Happy for Chase.

Lol on the road you shouldn’t be that close. Can’t compare the road to a race Bruv. If you’re that close on the road yeah you’re at fault

I didn’t say that either lol. But Byron couldn’t do anything else… like it was a racing thing
1&2 was hectic.

Byron almost wrecked Brad 6 seconds early. Turn 2 they came together. Byron just couldn't really react in time.

Yeah you probably wouldn’t give a ****.

I have repeatedly called out needless aggressive driving, even by Ross. My critiques don’t change based on the drivers who do it. No reason for a multiple time race winner to dump someone for 2nd.

Either Video Game Boy ran out of talent or he intentionally wrecked Ross. His record indicates the latter.

I told myself I'd root for a Chase win should he find himself in position..

But man, I thought Brad was winning this before the late yellow.

LOLOL at the "we're signing off" shot being Byron turning Chastain and not the checkered flag

With how fast he caught him, I just don’t see it being on purpose. Now if he was all over his bumper before hand, sure. But like we act like these drivers should be able to react quickly. **** happens.

I don't really know if Byron had enough time to react.

I'm all for pointing out what the luckiest driver in the history of the universe since the dawn of time has done wrong, but this just seemed like somewhat of a racing deal. Ross checked up, Byron didn't have time to see what was happening, and just kept the throttle in it

My problem with that narrative is that Byron’s arc off the corner made no sense otherwise. The bottom line was faster so Byron should have pivoted to the bottom. Ross was only up high to set up a long shot final pass on Elliott.

Even if you believe that Byron didn’t mean to dump him, he definitely was trying to get to his bumper so he could slow him before he got beside Chase in 3 and 4.

Gotta say though, It IS getting frustrating seeing Larson have a car capable of waxing the field continuing to have bad luck or wreck, especially when it seems like another HMS car ends up winning.

Off the top of my head, there was 4 or 5 of them last year, and this one is just tough to swallow, back to back races here. At least Vegas worked out.

But having a car that fast and not even getting a top 10 out of it just blows.

Happy for Chase, but man this **** is getting old

Even my homie over on the wrestling forum I’m on know Byron didn’t do that on purpose and Ross is his favorite driver lol.

Eh, if you really pay attention and listen to radios, Byron couldn't just pivot to the bottom without losing grip. This was a thing all weekend, as was keeping clean air on the nose. HMS radio also was pretty clear, all race long, that they weren't making grip any more than a lane and a half up from the bottom. When the groove is that narrow, and when losing grip is that much of an issue, I don't see why anyone who isn't racing for the win would just switch lanes from the apex of 1&2 and out of 2 when that corner has been pretty tough to get through.

Also, Ross was NOT getting to the 9 car in 3&4. If I could understand aero and momentum from my couch, Byron certainly could. The battle for the win was over as soon as Chase heard clear. Ross wasn't making up 3 car lengths on corner entry going into 3. If he even tried to, he'd be in the wall before even getting to the 9's bumper.

I love your posts, but if I were to say I think you're missing by a mile here, it would be an understatement XD

Shoutout to Harrison Burton. Best finish since Phoenix, five weekends ago. The boy is making some gains! Can we put Trevor Bayne back in that car yet!?!?

Man I went in with such low expectations today and even before the streak ended I thought that was a fun Texas race. So jacked for the 9 to be up front again. There's the confidence Chase hasn't had in awhile.

I dont see Byron coming off the corner any different than anyone else. Ross messed up, thats all it was.

A nice rally for Elliott to win from the 24th starting spot. A nice run for Brad Keselowski today. A tough day for Ryan Blaney, finishes 33rd.
