Talladega #2 Pre-Race Thread

No injuries mind ya, but I would like to see all 12 playoff cars with 4 flats apiece. Their new rule requires the cars to be towed to the infield, and it being Dega, the rabid infield fans would carry them off piece by piece to go in Jr's junkyard. Tony Stewart would be proud of that.

I mean, can we just do 11 and have Byron win the race?

If you hate super speedway racing, I don't care. I love all of this. Dega is Dega. LFG.
It can be super frustrating and there are plate races I rate a 2 just because of how it went… but in the end, it’s part of the sport and it’s entertaining. I don’t love it, but I don’t hate it either. I guess I just accept it.

I can't say I love the Supers, but I know in a general way what is going to happen and the final laps leading up to the finish line are always wild. I think some of the field will say screw the stage points and go for the win and some will be points racing. It should be interesting with the strategy...and then comes the finish. :punkrocke

Well...here's hoping Larson scores stage points before inevitably being wrecked.

He's yet to have a playoff roval race since joining HMS where he wasn't on a cutline.

Issues in 3/4 playoff races so far, only 3 top 10s at Talladega in 19 starts.... Surely he's due for a good run, right? Lolol

They're entertaining in themselves but it's lottery racing. If it's going to be in the playoffs, it should be early on.

I can't say as I hate it, but wrecks not withstanding, I am not a fan of tracks where you need help from others to be fast. Jumping out of line and going backwards is not racing.

Eh, it kinda is racing if you want to fade back and lay safe for awhile. The gerbils make it a sin if somebody falls back, but that is entirely not the case. Some guys from other teams bushwack a fast driver, by jumping into another line and leaving them in a bad spot. Some do it to their own team mates or won't help them when they need help lol.

The main point was having to relying on others to go fast. You can fade to the back, but you're going to stay there without help.

Point taken. I like the teamwork and the treachery myself.
I'd appreciate the teamwork more if NASCAR would let teammates talk to one another again. Knowing what someone else is going to do minimizes the uncertainty, and thus the chance of wrecking. Talking with only two or three others is better than none.

But I'm the guy who liked the tandem era.
