Silly Season 2025

Smith was kind of immature acting when he went Xfinity full time. I remember when he was lamblasting Jeb Burton for a racing incident and he got needlessly personal with some low ball insults.

But his performance from ARCA thru Trucks and now Xfinity has been top notch.

I would hate to see him go because of lack of sponsorship while lesser talents like Brandon Jones and Sammie Smith perform markedly worse while having family sponsors behind them.

Hell, he's been better than Creed who bounces around but keeps landing on his feet, while never winning an Xfinity race.

I don't get the guy on twitter saying it's hard to feel sorry for him because his dad has money. Seeing a 22 year old who has proven his worth on the track leave the sport because of lack of funding is never good. I hope he gets a decent ride for next year.

Smith's mouth and attitude got him where he is today. No doubt he has talent, but he is driving for the yotas and that organization always has way more drivers than seats available. Driver turnover means nothing to them, they always have an abundance of drivers to take the spot who would kill for the chance.
I wouldn't be surprised of Smith gets offers from smaller teams to race. If he is mature enough to handle it is another story.

That's a tough one. He one of the big hires RCR was hinting at?

Wow, Fed Ex is leaving? I didn’t know this, they just tweeted this out

Wow, didn't JGR leave a driver go a while back because they couldn't find sponsorship/funding? Can't remember the details...Anyone think Denny is in the same position? Seems like the ship has left the port for Hamlin to become a champion and you have to wonder what he will continue to bring to this racing organization in the future all the while trying to co manage a team that appears to have lost its charters and significant income next year. Based on what little I know Hamlin wouldn't be my first choice for a "partner" in any endeavor.

Denny's relationship with FedEx was much healthier than Kyle Busch's with Mars. Busch and Mars butted heads over his behavior on several occasions. That probably also gave Coach reason to not try to hard to find one for him, especially with grandkid Ty Gibbs waiting in the wings.

I think Denny's still a productive driver, his record with sponsors will make it easier to find a partner for him, and Gibbs doesn't have another relative breathing down Hamlin's neck. (Coke, McDonalds, or Beast may be looking soon. :p )

With a huge cut in pay this might make sense. Let's face it. With the money they are paying Hamlin (highest paid, Kyle Busch level) he isn't producing, and I disagree with your opinion of Denny's behavior. He has been right in the middle of every controversy. FedX may not have liked that. They aren't without their controversies.

Besides the lawsuit the two big things I'm keeping an eye on are

1) RCR promised big moves. What are in the plans?

2) It's become apparent that RFK is adding a 3rd team. Where is the charter coming from? Early indication was some deal with RWR, but with the loss of the injunction, I just have some feeling that he might end up with an SHR one.

I agree Denny is still competitive and winning races. He is in his early 40s and that's the time we often see the switch flipped and suddenly the wins become a rarity if at all. He is also one of the more polarizing drivers in Cup and that would take a special sponsor to step into a role of support. I would be surprised to see a big brand name on board with him going forward, but more likely an entity just wanting some quick publicity. Haven't heard much from Anti Monkey Butt Cream lately, but I think that might be a good fit for him.

I see Parker Retzlaff is out of a ride for next year. Have to wonder if that's any blow back from pushing the 21 to the win in the cap race?

Chadly Knaus.....of The Chain Gang.....nails the playoff debate with Danielle Trotta on NASCAR Radio.....Essentially the rules are what they are, the teams' job is to maximize performance within those rules, and win the championship....In other words, STFU about the rules, and win. Thank you Chadly. My favorite amongst the inmates.

I think most agree with the rules and having to adhere to those rules in place. It doesn’t mean the rules aren’t faulty and shouldn’t be taken a look at for improvement to a certain degree.

Ok I'll make the announcement. It's Ryan Preece in the #60 with Kroger as primary sponsor. Being that SHR charters are still in limbo I'm guessing the charter is bought or leased from RWR

Something that wasn't talked about was Preece's performance during the playoffs. He was incredible, perhaps the best stretch of his career.

I think he'll be great in that 60 car.

Ryan is either really hot or really cold. No in between
