Silly Season 2025

If I'm not mistaken, Kaulig's line-up is Ty Dillon, A.J. Allmendinger and Daniel Hemric? Ty is a huge question mark for me, but he's just as good as his brother. I'm excited to see what he can do in the best ride he's ever had. We all know Dinger is a threat at RC's. Hemric isn't going to set the world on fire, but I think he'll be better than 2024. I think Kaulig will surprise next year.

Kaulig said they wanted to chase trophies. You’re not chasing anything with Dillon and Hemeric behind the wheel, drivers with enough body of work to show they’re not capable of winning a race. Harsh when there’s 2 each of Daytona, Talladega, and Atlanta on the schedule so maybe they can scrape a win at one of those or something. As for AJ he really didn’t impress me much when it was his turn to wheel the Cup car, he is getting up there now in age. Is his talent depleting or is it the ineptitude of Kaulig? I don’t think they’re going to have a good a season as what you’re optimistic about

Hemric is trying to do what the other guy did, go back to trucks and then another chance in cup.
Papa is holding up Ty's jocktrap.

I pretty much agree with this assessment. I don't WANT Kaulig to be a fraud, but at this point they kind of ARE. That trophy hunting rhetoric just doesn't cut it with me when you are hiring drivers like Dillon. I could MAYBE see Dillon if you really have to kiss a little ass over at RCR, but the tradeoff is your other guy better be REALLY strong. I think AJ COULD still win a race , but that window is closing, and a full time SVG just made his chances that much less likely. I've heard a lot of tough talk out of Chris Rice, but at this point maybe it would be better if he just kept his mouth shut. I could tolerate hiring pay drivers if they are legitimate talents with some real upside potential, but when you're just playing musical chairs with journeyman mid packers, my patience runs out pretty quickly. I may well be proven wrong, but Preece to RFK seems like a similar deal. You have an aging Brad K, and you have a very good, but not spectacular Buescher, and then you add a journeyman that is OK, but has never really sniffed victory, and had a hard time holding down a full time job in Xfinity? I just think if you are Kaulig or RFK, you need to be setting your sights higher, or at least taking a chance on potential greatness over known mediocrity. I look at 23XI as the better model. You have a championship contender in Reddick and a solid potential playoff driver in Bubba, and you always have the Denny card in your back pocket if things get tough, so that allows you to take more of a chance on your third driver, and at least they are looking towards upside potential. If you are going to hire a pay driver, hire a Herbst or Gragson or Custer and not some tired retread.

Herbst, Gragson and Custer all made better choices going with who they went with instead of going with Kaulig. They are really weak at the Cup level. I don't think SVG is going to save them next year. SVG has a good chance of making the playoffs because of all of the road courses and the one street course but it isn't going to be a cake walk.

He's Trackhouse but still, the has a shotunless they eliminate the win and you're in with the format changes. Then he just might take off back to Australia.

I don’t hate the scheme, but I don’t love it? Can that be a choice?

I liked the Bootie and Bubba combo, but I think it's also maxed out. Combine that with too many iffy strategy calls, and it became clear change was needed.
On the other hand, if Wallace doesn't improve what does that say about Wallace? It's a double edged sword always when they go that route. It puts more pressure on Bubba but it could turn out for the better. Good stuff to watch for next year.

I'm sorry but I don't agree with the bolded. Buescher won 3 races in 2023, and would've made the playoffs this year easily in every other format. He's one of the best talents in the sport. Keselowski obviously is a big reason why RFK is relevant again.

As for Preece, I think he's better than people give him credit for. He's a tier above Hemric easily.

23XI Reddick used Buescher up last year because he couldn't pass clean for the lead and a couple of hopeless win and you are in driver nonsense sealed his fate. Buescher went on to win after he was eliminated, beating no other than SVG on a road course at Watkins Glenn. It would have been a hell of a story...but playoffs.
