College Football 2024

This was the year scheduled for underdog cinderella to go prove it on the field by the committee after leaving them out for all these years, Boise St Arizona St SMU even Indiana better bring it THIS IS THEIR SHOT at the title, if they don't make games of these (and I think they will, hope they will) the committee very well may start overweighting sos leapfrogging the big programs over them to keep them out in the future, but the ccg's are a good safety net.

They got it right with SMU being the last team in, there could even be an argument for a 2 loss Miami over 3 loss Bama it's close, Bama will get plenty of preferential treatment down the line not worried about that. They didn't get it done on the field this year, plain and simple, it's someone else's turn now.

The top 4 bye rewards are big, I think that should go by ranking going forward. This is gonna be a fun playoff to watch, can't wait.

9-3 should never trump an 11-1 team. Their complaining is absurd too, they lost to Oklahoma and Vanderbilt

There are a lot of instances in which 9-3 actually would be more impressive than 11-1 or 11-2, this wasn’t one of them. Their schedule was ranked like 10th just in the SEC. If they played Georgia’s schedule or Florida’s schedule maybe we can have that argument.

I think this is weird

Belichick obtains complete control over the program at UNC, which he was never going to get in the NFL, and he made sure that he got significant buy-in from the university and its boosters before signing the deal. I’m not sure if it’ll pan out, but UNC has always been a sleeping giant in football, so it is ultimately a pretty low-risk/high upside move. Worst case scenario is probably that you stay an average team that kind of just exists to tide everyone over until basketball season.

I absolutely love it. Low risk, high reward. Just like Colorado and Deion.

“Mr Jordan if you could donate a couple million and unlimited Jordan gear we might be able to make a splash in the next couple years”

Will they win a National Championship ever? No, but they could F around and win the ACC in a couple years.

Another fascinating story line.

I wish Mack Brown well he's a college football legend coach and even better human being leader of young men.

interesting enough is Mack is 73 and Belichick is 72 starting on this base, Bill must feel like he's got a lot left in the tank in coaching

I think Mack overall had a good tenure in his second stint at UNC, he may have just overstayed his welcome by one season. But he got the program back on solid footing after the final couple of Fedora years were so dreadful. I do wish he had hired better DCs, and then Sam Howell and Drake Maye could’ve won more games. But it was ultimately a good move by UNC to bring him back for a few seasons. Hopefully he finds a way to hang around the game for a bit longer, it sure seems like he wants to.

If you have ever heard Bill Belichick going all Knute Rockne with his charisma and emotional delivery, telling the boys to "win one fot the Gipper" it would be so obvious.

Life is short, and at 72, there are not as many seasons left. Prioritizing thongs is more important than ever so good on him and best wishes.

But if I was in Belichick's position with a 24 year old hawt girlfriend, I would be spending my remaining days at the house.

It sucks that Army’s season is going to end with this and playing a 5-7 team in Shreveport. Winning their first-ever conference title in their first AAC season was special though.

I didn't know that a 5-7 team was eligible for a bowl.

There were exactly enough bowl-eligible teams to fill out the original slate, so once Marshall dropped out they had to go to the 5-7 schools. Ruston is an hour away and LT happen to use the quarter calendar, so they’re still in class and on campus.

So maybe Indiana’s best win being against Michigan was a sign after all. Fun run nonetheless.

With Georgia’s QB issues, Notre Dame look like they have a path to the national championship game.

Going from Brian Kelly to Marcus Freeman has to be one of the biggest coaching upgrades in likability a school has ever had.

Good thing Alabama and Colorado got snubbed and I got to see that barnburner.
I can’t cry for anyone who got “snubbed” from a 12-team playoff - which is the only way any of those teams would’ve been in contention.

Also, there’s probably a good discussion to be had about the schedule luck in these giantass super conferences meaning Indiana played one of the top six teams in the Big Ten. But that doesn’t consolidate more money in the hands of the rich.
