btw Miami had the most explosive offense in college football this year in yards per/gm points per/gm, with 2 losses if anyone has a gripe to being left out of this year's playoff it's not 3 loss Bama it's Miami. 3 loss Clemson freerolled them on scheduling SEC to get into what should have been treated as a de-facto playoff game with SMU if they lost twice, personally I would have opted for Miami for the playoff a much more dangerous team to play against than both SMU and Clemson.
This was likely to be the most chalky part of the playoffs with the home field advantage in college football along with the talent disparity is hard to overcome, neutral site next round should be much more up in the air.
Arizona State could catch Texas by surprise here with the extra prep time, might not matter as the talent level on Texas is top 4 in the country, but Texas has had some weird moments this season and ASU is a fun fast type of team with Dillingham, they'll need to get off to a fast start to catch Texas off guard. This could be the surprise game, but I think Texas has too much for them and Sark will have them ready.
Ohio State - Oregon a brutal draw for Oregon to have to rematch with tOSU but they get the extra time and Rose Bowl backyard conditions, flip a coin 2 of the best teams in the country. Slight lean to a rusty start for Oregon with the time off while Ohio State seems to be out for blood to put the country on notice that they're the team to beat.
Penn State - Boise St.... Boise St. has not faced a defense remotely close to as good as Penn State's and Big West teams were able to sell out on stopping Jeanty this year at times he can be shutdown spotlighted, they'll have to show they can do something thru the air & other avenues to have a chance. If Penn State's offense gets it going like they did against Oregon on neutral site in non-frozen tundra conditions, Boise St. will get overpowered if that happens.
Notre Dame - Georgia, if Notre Dame is going to get past the Dawgs this would be the time for it as Georgia has looked vulnerable at times this season but then looks like the Dawgs of ol' at other times like Texas. Fade them at your own peril, with Kirby Smart and the extended break to rest reset it's hard to go against their pedigree, the biggest question being at quarterback for Georgia for a full game. Notre Dame looked dominant against a good offensive Indiana team was a 27-3 vibe for most of the game (14 garbage time points to close it up on the box score), this will be a battle of 2 really physical football teams attempting to out physical each other. The way Georgia shows up for these big time games, it's tough to go against.
I've got:
Texas
Ohio State
Penn State
Georgia
