NASCAR sucks now. Support your local tracks.

In your statement ; quote: (this year my girlfriend said she would be willing to go to the 600 if we could find some stuff for her to do in Charlotte)
I'm just happy that I finally have someone willing to go to a race with me. That's my logic. If it takes an additional day or 2 of doing things around town I'm willing to pay that price. Like I always say "relationships are doing the things you hate with the people you love" lol!

My wife has tried going to races - beyond going to the local bullring for Figure 8 nights she's generally completely bored. If you can find something that you hate which they want to do (shopping or gambling often suffices for mine) then let them go do that while you do you and go to the track or to another sporting event.

It all went to Hell, Shiet and all the other bad words when they started shaming the hawt scantily clad trophy queens.
F1 even got in on shaming them when dropped the grid girls.

When the racing people dropped the Hawt Wimmins from the Fast Cars, Hawt Wimmins, and Rock and Roll Trinity you have to know it is well nigh sundown for us, and we deserve to die.

hey now. That works well enough for me. :p  ;)

I thought it was Sex, Drugs, and Rock & Roll. Must be a different religion's trinity. Pretty sure it's not Fat, Drunk, and Stupid.
You are correct, but I hate recreational drugs (I don't even drink alcohol) and the other thought wouldn't go beyond just having some hawt wimmins around as part of the racing glamor.

So, I like my version or memories better even if I missed on the original slang or terms.

Nascar has definitely lost a lot of its luster to me. I find myself watchin less and less of it.

I have never actually been to a Nascar race myself because I never had anyone to go with. This year my girlfriend said she would be willing to go to the 600 if we could find some stuff for her to do in Charlotte prior to the race. But I'll be honest this lawsuit is really killing my interest in things. Probably try to hit the local tracks of Plover and Marshfield and call it good.
Uptown Charlotte is LOADED with things to do that I'm sure she would enjoy!
If you want to catch some non-NASCAR racing, Hickory usually has a big race before the 600.
Stay in Mooresville (to be immersed in the NASCAR community) and travel from there.
If she's into shopping and fine dining check out Birkdale Village in Huntersville.
Too much to do to list!

So your girlfriend is only willing to go to the race if you can find stuff for her to do?

My buddy's wife only pays attention loosely because he watches it at home, but she got tickets to the 600 for his birthday, totally indifferent to the sport, and had a blast.

My wife came along to a Loudon race a few years ago with no knowledge or care for the sport but went because she knew I loved the sport.

Your girlfriend sounds selfish

Well considering that on average I spend 160 nights a year on the road for work and we currently live 2 hours apart leaves little time together. So, the little time we get together to do a trip wanting to do something for both of us doesn't seem selfish to me, it seems reasonable.....

What's with your guys wanting to take the ladies to the races? Much more fun with a group of guys. We have never got "in trouble" when the ladies stayed home. :D

Add me to list of fans who's interest has declined. I went from being sure to not miss a race, to watching maybe six races this past season. The championship format makes the Cup title meaningless to me now. The races that I did watch mostly ended in green-white-checkered wreck fests, which I don't enjoy. And I can't find a driver or team to latch onto anymore like I used to.

I haven't even looked at where to watch what races now this season, I just know some races are on Amazon and the TV schedule seemed confusing at a glance when the news first broke. I don't think that helps either.
