College Football 2024

I really really like Carnell Tate. He's in the shadow of Egbuka and Smith. I am always so happy for him when he gets the call.

Kicking a ****** FG? For what??
Doesn't matter with the miss but think it was the right call.

I doubt they would get 2 TDs and 2 successful two point plays. It is guess work but I think they would need 3 scores.

There are only 10 minutes left in the national championship game, if you make it you need to score another 2 TDs anyways. Just doesn’t make sense to keep a two-score game a two-score game in that scenario.

2023: Texas Christian loses NCG to Georgia 65-7

2024: Oregon blows out Liberty in Fiesta Bowl 45-6

2025: Notre Dame loses NCG to Ohio State 34-23

I think we can safely say Jesus does not watch College Football.

Or doesn't think any of those schools are good representations for him.

It is settled

Congratulations Concordia Nebraska :headbang:

Right. But Ohio State is so often mentioned among the wealthiest athletic departments. I don't follow it closely but if I understand correctly 2024 had the NIL money coming from boosters but going forward it will come from the universities. Is that accurate?

These universities are gonna get that NIL money one way or another. I believe some are starting to ask for donations and Tennesse (I think) openly said their going to add, essentially an NIL tax into their tickets. I'm sure other universitas are going to start hiding that tax in the increase in merch and ticket prices without actually acknowledging it.

I just texted my PSU alumni cousin and he said he hasn't been asked to donate any money.

If anybody has more information about this I would like to see/hear it. Fascinating to see how this goes moving forward.

I think raising revenue will work for the top 10-15 programs, but the others are going to feel the pain. My biggest concern is that schools will drop non-revenue sports just to feed the...others.

It should be noted that Ohio State has something in the range of 35-40 varsity sports, which is very much an outlier nationwide. Texas, another massive athletic department in terms of revenue generation, only has 21 for contrast.

I think it’s very possible OSU drops some sports (likely men’s) in the coming years, but athletics is also a major marketing tool for universities and Ohio State is experiencing significant growth as a school right now. They’ll be fine. Same thing propelled UF in the aughts when they were winning national titles in both football and men’s basketball at the same time.

As far as the House v. NCAA settlement, the most recent update I saw was just a couple of weeks ago when the DOJ got involved and filed a statement of interest in the case. I think they’re asking the Judge to either sever the revenue sharing cap from the agreement or allow the cap to be the subject of be source of future litigation. Also, the NCAA wants to retain the ability to make restrictions on NIL deals and that isn’t likely to go over well either.
