The Clash at Bowman Grey Pre-Race Thread.

The colosseum proved to me that a track can be too short.
I'm not optimistic that its going to be a good race, the Coliseum races were a dud to me....
I'll watch it, but my expectations are really low. It's like putting a bunch of Thoroughbred race horses on a county fair merry-go-round and firing the starter's pistol. Thoroughbreds and Nascars need a track that allows them to stretch their legs and... Go Fast!

Just my opinion....

Tire Notes & Quotes:

The tire set-up for Bowman Gray is the same as the fall 2024 NASCAR Cup Series race at Martinsville.
Like the option tire set-up introduced at North Wilkesboro and Richmond in 2024, this set-up was designed as part of Goodyear’s effort to develop new short track set-ups.
Goodyear’s last time at Bowman Gray was for a test during the 2021 season. The test was conducted in preparation for the inaugural LA Coliseum Clash. During the test, Tony Stewart, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Clint Bowyer were behind the wheel of the Next Gen car
“Teams will be focused on racing and battling for track position. We look forward to learning at Bowman Gray and applying that knowledge to our short-track tire package going forward,” said Stu Grant, general manager for global race tires at Goodyear.

Wet Weather Tires:
Goodyear will have wet weather 18-inch Eagle Radials on hand should inclement weather prompt NASCAR to make the determination that a wet option should be made available. Cup teams will have a maximum of 4 sets available.

The wet weather Goodyear Eagle Radials feature a white lettered sidewall and a tread pattern designed for wet weather.

I have always put NASCAR Haulers at the top for having some of the best looking wraps and paint schemes on the road. But I just finished watching a video of them arriving at the Clash today and I’m wondering if there is a competition for who can have the ugliest hauler this year. There were a few that were pretty bad. The SHR haulers were always pretty nice ones and Penske has nice ones that have been the same for a few years. But some of them were pretty bad. But the sponsors pay the bills so if that is the look they want that is what they will get. 😃

The SHR haulers? That's so 2024! :)

Yep, 2024 and earlier.😃 They had the premier haulers for many years. My favorite hands down was Harvick’s Budweiser hauler when it was red.
Stretched flat top Pete.

Watching the 1993 Busch Clash on Tubi right now.

Dale was so good.
I was watching the 2013 East race from Bowman Gray last night, funny to see them take about at the time up and coming drivers and knowing where their careers went. They talked most about Dylan Kwasniewski who bombed pretty hard. Meanwhile they barely talked about the guy in that race who has had the most success since, that being Daniel Suarez.

Crazy to think he was out of the sport within a couple of years.

I’m watching the modified race at BG via Tubi. The production is via the Flo Racing team. These announcers are insane. I’ve NEVER heard people talk so fast, so constantly, in my life. I thought Steve LeTart was bad. But listening to this is like listening to auctioneers trading off with nary a breath between. Almost zero sound of the race cars in the mix.

Production is lacking, but the racing is good.

Flo's announcers are pretty good. This is a race I am glad they are counting caution laps. We would be here all night if they didn't. Good racing between the flags though.

Dang! I practically never watch modifies, but I am because of Tubi. I really hope this isn't how these guys always race. I don't even know I've seen more than five consecutive green flag laps.

I think they were just overstimulated, too excited or something at the early part of it. By mid to later race, they’d slowed their delivery slightly and sounded a tad better. I think all the cautions took the juice out of them.

People go to Bowman Gray to see wrecking and fights. It's a combination, demo derby/football/wrestling all rolled into one... or something like that. :idunno: They were calm today, it must be the cooler weather.
