NASCAR needs a driver's union
Was going to add this to my post but ran out of time to edit. A whole other discussion could be had on this but the American monoculture has been reduced down to essentially politics and the NFL. Outside of those two topics, very few events draw much of a national awareness anymore.
Once upon a time a major celebrity getting into NASCAR may have noticeably moved the needle but those days are gone. One of the major impacts of the social mediafication of society is people getting into bubbles and knowing little to nothing of other major happenings (i.e. myself and others in this thread). For better or worse that’s where we are and I don’t see much changing.
I don’t think that is the root cause of the issue in this thread. It reminds me of old men when I was growing up not knowing about this new thing called “grunge.”
NASCAR’s fan base skews older so even if it was 1995, most of us wouldn’t be in her target demo and would have little awareness of her.
