Once upon a time a major celebrity getting into NASCAR may have noticeably moved the needle but those days are gone. One of the major impacts of the social mediafication of society is people getting into bubbles and knowing little to nothing of other major happenings (i.e. myself and others in this thread). For better or worse that’s where we are and I don’t see much changing.

I don’t think that is the root cause of the issue in this thread. It reminds me of old men when I was growing up not knowing about this new thing called “grunge.”

NASCAR’s fan base skews older so even if it was 1995, most of us wouldn’t be in her target demo and would have little awareness of her.

Wasn’t there some sort of show about 20 years ago where some big names got in Petty Driving Experience cars at Charlotte? I think I remember John Cena doing it. Maybe I’m imagining things.

I'm thinking an actual race, maybe the Saturday night at the All Star Race. Sell that particular race to Netflix or something.

I might have known her name years ago, but I never listened to mind numbing pop music. It's tougher than ever to find decent stuff today with mega monopolies controling what we have to listen to. They can make stars out of just about anybody with all the stations that they own and digital enhancements to carry the rest.

My root cause is this discussion started with only the most tenuous of connections to racing.

Who's going to pay for the torn-up cars? With semi-experience celebs, there might be some consecutive green flag laps. If the field is full of grass-green 'names', all their viewers get is a wreckfest.

That’s my thinking too. You’ll have a million in damage if you bring in people who know zero about racing.
 
While it could be a cool moment for William and the sport, I wouldn’t expect any lasting impact unless one of the drivers actually gets into a relationship with her. I remember when Chase Elliott rizzed up Livvy Dunne (I’m sincerely sorry I typed that) at Nashville a couple of years ago and don’t recall any long term meaning.

I'm not sure what happened to them and haven't seen them in years, but I'm pretty sure there is still a box full of tapes of 90s races around the house somewhere. We recorded ALL of the races when I was a kid. I remember watching tapes days later of the first Texas races with the pileups from water when they first built it. And of course I replayed the 98 500 quite a few times.
