Cup RACE thread --- Atlanta

Who was the genius who decided the season starts with...

Superspeedway
Superspeedway
Road course?

Nearly a month into the season before the season starts lol

NASCAR called the caution exactly how they said they would in the driver meeting.

Dumbasses shouldn’t be wrecking for 15th

I don't care. NASCAR is still in the wrong. Unless racing back to the line poses a direct safety threat, such as the wreck being on the front-stretch or turns 1 or 2, race back to the line for the finish. NASCAR should be doing everything possible to ensure a race to the line for the finish.

Ross Chastain needs to start being a dickhole again. Dude pushes every Chevy car on these drafting tracks then gets hung out to dry at the first opportunity.

Hocevar is a super talented kid but he badly needs to learn race craft. Way too much beating and banging and ill timed dive bombs.

Sounds like he already has
Wouldn't it be Jeff having that conversation? Hasn't Jeff essentially taken over the racing operations part of Hendrick Motorsports? I don't get the sense that Mr. H is that directly involved anymore.

When will Larson get one at a plate track? Bell one of those drivers that backs into all his wins.

Its crazy to me, like he should try to help Larson over trying to win himself?

Your anti Larson bias is showing. Race 2. XD

No. He shouldn't, but Chevy is anti non Chevy. Its kind of a thing with Chevy at these tracks. When Ricky won Talladega, Larson could have pushed Brad by him, but he was told to lift. So he did.

Its not about Larson. It's about Hocevar violating what seems to be a Chevy team order than has existed for all of gen 7.

I dobt like it either, but its how it is. Frankly, its like this for all manufacturers. If I can't win, I help the driver who has the same manufacture as me..it isnt new.

Lol it ain't no bias against Larson, I feel the same if he didn't help Elliott. It's not his job, his job is to get the best finish for his team as possible.

The xfinity finish had practically the exact same crash on the back and they didn’t throw the yellow

Sure, as you sbould. And i dont disagree with what Hocevar did either, but I'd rather he didnt. Team orders are a thing with Chevy. If Elliott was in Larsons spot, you would be happy if he lifted because a win is a win. Even if its contextualized and lame.

If these cars weren't so stunted, we wouldn't even be having this conversation, but alas, team orders to hand in hand with Gen 7 superspeedway racing

I would bet though, if hocevar had a few wins under his belt, hed have lifted. Shows how broken superspeedway racing is.

And they were wrong not to. It isn't about whether a wreck affects the leaders, it's about deploying the safety team as quickly as possible to potential injuries.

Just looking for some consistency.

It's hard to tell what's right or wrong when NASCAR moves the goal posts from one day to the next

Between team orders, neutered cars, and GWCs…I long for the days that the finish of a race was in the hands of the drivers and not some monkey pushing a button.

I’m over superspeedway racing for a bit.

I hear this excuse all the time, and I think it's 100% BS.

I assume these safety crews are intelligent enough to understand when it's safe to venture their way onto the track, caution or no caution. I've also witnessed the safety trucks approaching wrecked vehicles like they are out for a leisurely Sunday drive, while some portly fella jumps out and WALKS his way....to the safest car NASCAR has ever developed.

The "put it out" competition clowns can cling to whatever excuses they want, but it's all a bunch of nonsense. If safety was truly the top priority, as far as these end of race yellows are concerned? They would hire people who are physically capable of reaching the wrecks as quickly as possible, and they would have 3x the amount of crews around the track.

I'm tired of NASCAR blaming "safety" for their incompetence.
