Bonehead of the week: COTA

Ross you knew it was coming about 3 seconds before it happened

Ross for going full iRacing on lap 1. If he had the ability to be in full field radio chat he would’ve said “everyone take it easy in turn 1.”

iRacers will get it

Obviously Ross for going from lecturing Hocevar last week about being an aggressive dumbass to turning around and taking dumbassery to a whole new level. Bonus points for wussing out and refusing to comment or own it post race.

Considering this was a short track type road course, this place is really light on boneheads this week. :idunno: Elliott was able to get back and finish 4th despite themselves.

Hamlin for being so jealous of Kyle Busch that he had to take out Bush's teammate to cause a caution.
Cindric for turning Dillon on purpose.

Locked brakes and anger are excuses with both of them.

No excuse for Chastain. He has to be the choice

Ross Chastain and Austin Cindric. Ty Dillon did nothing to deserve getting wrecked so early in the race.

Bonus points for wussing out

So, if a driver knows someone else is going to wreck them on purpose (because they announced it to the world on the radio, and were encouraged to do so by their team), they're supposed to actually let them do it instead of just giving up the position and having a good finish?

I'm with the fact that Ross' lap one move was stupid. But y'all Chase Elliott fans are just different.

I mean it happens all the time when someone knows they messed up and ruined another driver's day, and they at the least get out of their way instead of escalating a feud. But I guess NASCAR needs to write a rule that says, if you hit Chase Elliott, you need to go out of your way to wreck yourself or let him wreck you.

We can call it the Harvick rule.

He said bonus points for wussing out and not commenting, not for wussing out and moving out of Chase's way.

I thought who ever touched Elliott was supposed to turn right immediately into the nearest wall, get out of the car and bow down the next time the 9 passed :idunno:

Ross obviously. No excuse for that ******* move.

Bonus stupidity points for Ross for wrecking the one car who’s fanbase will carry on about it for the next 12 races despite the fact Elliott finished 8 spots ahead of the 1 car.

Yep. Chastain should grenade his car into the nearest safer barrier ASAP. Relinquish all Trackhouse sponsorship to the 9 team. Retire from NASCAR and immediately jump off an overpass.

This is just a start of the retribution.

Scrape him up and run over him again.

I'm not sure if you can say much in the last part... you're a Jr fan(as am I) and Kyle and Jr at Richmond was bought up for YEARS...

While I agree to a point. The circumstances were different. Kyle wrecked Jr for the lead with less than 10 laps to go. Directly ending Jr’s day and costing both the win.

Ross wrecked Chase turn 1 lap 1 racing for 10th. Both drivers ran an entire race after that. The 9 recovered to finish 4th. The 1 team faded to 12th. Did the contact cost Chase a shot at the win? Quite possibly. The 9 car was fast. But we’ll never know.

Ross was racing for 10th Chase was racing for 2nd...therein lies the issue.

My main point being that alot of fan bases hold onto **** forever. Surely if it's a driver who has a history of pissing you off.

Like I got over the Harvick stuff pretty quickly as he didn't piss me off a lot, and I always was a fan. So it all just depends on a factor of things

If everybody just drove around in circles and never touched anybody or said the wrong thing, I would be so bored I wouldn't watch the races I do, but it appears that some would prefer it that way. It's a big part of racing the heroes and the zeros.
Elliott has a lot of super fan boys. You always know it is going to be interesting if the slightest thing happens to him lol.

Chastain, Hocevar, Stenhouse keep it interesting and are high up on the bonehead list at the present time. Honorable mention to Cendric for slapping Dillion into the gravel pit. Cost him 50 points, Kyle Busch said he does it all the time and he got off easy. I thought that was pretty spicy coming from him.

Don’t forget the life time achievement awards for Logano at SSs and Keselowski at road courses.
