2025 Darlington Throwbacks.

So much better than the #9 (lack of) effort. Identical paint colors and layout, sponsor and number fonts match the original. Top notch.

IMO you have 2 possible outcomes besides yours. It could be a bad photo that screwed up the colors like what happened on some of the Wood Brothers throwback, or the sponsor insisted on using their corporate colors applied to the throwback design. :idunno:

the sponsor insisted on using their corporate colors applied to the throwback design.
Even if the sponsor insisted on their colors and fonts, look at the color arrangement. The bottom green area on the #25 wraps around the front, and doesn't go up and around the wheel openings. The number is in a different, thicker font than the #25.

The sponsor demands are understandable; it's their money. But buy-in is critical for a decent-looking tribute. If a team can't get it, see if the sponsor would agree to swapping races with a more cooperative one. Otherwise, just don't run a tribute this year.

Don't get me wrong, I love the tribute schemes. This is another one that if the team didn't tell us it was a tribute, few would make the connection. Heck, I'll bet even Kenny wouldn't have.

You wouldn't understand... most weren't born yet, didn't follow F-1 or are incapable of reading about the development of the Lotus FORD engine a world beater of it's day. Throwbacks are about our racing heritage...do better, learn something. This contempt before investigation nonsense is getting old.
Is that what the throwbacks are about? It kind of changes. We used to throw back to stock car schemes. Carry on.

I like the throwbacks. There are exceptions to most anything, but back in the day, it seemed like most of the cars only used a single solitary color. The multicolor paint schemes on today's cars are just too busy for me.

Some of my favorite old ones were:

- Petty Blue before the STP scheme.
- The #71 K&K Dodge
- Jacks Ingrams Brown # 11
- The Thomas Brothers # 00
- The original RCR Goodwrench #3
- The Junior Johnson Moutain Dew # 11 was two toned, but at least the Green was functional to match the sponsorship. The same could be said for old Digard #88 with the Gatoraid sponsorship.
- The Barney Visser # 78

In my radio broadcasting days, one of the best interviews I ever had was in studio with Ernie Irvan, when he had found some success driving late model at Concord Motor Speedway. This was in 1986. He was going to finally get a shot driving a Busch series car at Charlotte. His story, his determination to become a top series driver, was very evident. He was very kind and humble. Another California kid who did whatever work he could to get to the heartland of stock car racing. Loved that Kodak car!

I loved the old Concord track and the Big 10 races they ran. I ran a few Legend races on the quarter mile track.
