RFK #17 car Buescher penalty from Kansas

We are going to make this foam look just like a streaking bullet, smooth it up to give you maximum speed. They will never know what hit them. Wait what? we have to go to the R&D?

They money probably hurts more than the points at this time in the season and that isn't a hell of a lot.
 
Another useless rule, it reinforces the bumper, most likely just marginally. Does not add anything to performance, so why?

'Marginally' depends on how far out of tolerance they were. NASCAR doesn't write rules for the heck of it. I don’t know squat about aero but I =suspect= the more reinforced the cover is, the less it flexes in the air flow, and the better the car performs.

They're given dimensions for the area to reinforce. Beyond that is a penalty, period. If the stated dimensions aren't enforced as written, at what point are they enforced? 1/4 inch out of spec? 2 inches? All the way acroos the cover?

Hard to tell from the side view 2D DWG., but it's possible creative foam work can direct air flow and that could affect a number of things. Another possibility is that the team had their heads up their keester. I doubt that when RFK has laser bots running around the shop measuring everything.
 
Ryan Preece has carried RFK this year. Keselowski has been a disaster. Buescher has been decent, but not as good as Preece. I sense a win coming for the #60 team.

Buescher penalty is quite shocking. It puts them well behind in the point standings.
 
Really great to see a deserving driver like Preece finding some success. It especially meaningful to see a short track vet making the almost impossibile dream happen.

I think he got a lot of unjust snark while at SHR.

Wasn’t he the one not in the post race study group clique (Gragson, Brisco, and Berry) when he was there?
