RACE thread --- Open and All-Star

As a flagman myself I give Michael a 0/10.

Seems like FOX is building momentum towards a points race here, from what they’re saying on air right now. I dig it.

Awfully racey for a place with only a year of aging on its surface.
Yea they were campaigning hard for it, makes me wonder if they will lobby for a Wilkesboro race in their portion of the schedule… probably means Bristol spring is on borrowed time if this is the case. Which is stupid thinking, Bristol should have two races. Fix the car there.

Is this the last year of the all star race at Wilkesboro, I thought when the revival and race was announced it was a three race deal which would have been 23,24,25

I think that swap makes the most sense when you consider FOX also made the initial push to revitalize the Bristol spring race with dirt.

I must have been watching a different race from everybody else because it was really boring to me. The only reason it was slightly interesting was because Logano chose not to get any tires on that last pit stop when others behind him got tires. Otherwise, it was going to be a snoozefest in which Logano led almost all of the laps.

It just needs more HP on the short tracks. Bristol is too banked, need that extra pop to get around the bottom groove guys running a shorter lap. Momentum only gets you so far. Also have to imagine there’s an aero effect because of the symmetrical design

Which stinks. Fix the car, fix the track. Do whatever you have to do as I don’t want to be a nascar fan in a world where Bristol only has one race. It’s a preposterous idea to even bring up.

Needs to happen, and since neither ESPN nor CBS air NASCAR, North Wilkesboro should either go to FOX or TNT.
It’s Fox. They were swiping right the entire broadcast and slipping in the DM’s of Fox in real time.

I know it sounds sacrilegious, but that spring date had been an attendance issue since well before the Next Gen. They’ve been chasing that track with fixes both good and bad since it first got botched in the late 2000s, and the dirt was the only thing that gave it a real shot in the arm - even that only worked briefly.

The summer race has held up much better but would also stand out even more as a crown jewel if Bristol went down to one weekend. It’s a model that’s worked with a lot of other tracks so far.

Not that it means they can’t ever had a date back to Bristol either - they’ve shown they can be really flexible with the schedule now. It’s just that short track racing mostly is what it is for now; the car has some inherent weaknesses that likely can’t be resolved until an entirely new car is developed however many years down the road.

People like watching lap after lap racing side by side when they usually can't pass unless they knock them out of the way compared to a track like Bristol that has two actual lanes where they can pass if they are faster. The softest tire goodyear had and the track surface getting worked in really helped along with the caution restart mad scrambles.

Sending Preece to the rear in the open was a buzz kill. Nobody in the booth can seem to make decisions and instead blindly follow the rules when everybody could see the lane selection marker was covered up with tire marks and dirt.

Just catching up, and is it just me or does the 6 look like a giant Cadbury egg?

I find it ironic that the guy who has 3 championships ONLY because of a gimmick points system, and has multiple wins solely due to races that end in several green white checkered finishes, spent all last night after the race trashing NASCAR for throwing a gimmick caution. Logano is the biggest hypocrite in NASCAR.

Yeah, and literally nobody else made the same mistake Preece did. He has won nothing in Cup, and the biggest whiner in the series. He has had the gritty driver from nothing thing blown so far up his ass that he shows up like the champion he isn't.
