Mike Eddy

Drivers like Mike Eddy, Bob Senneker, and Dick Trickle (before his Nascar days) were good enough to be Nascar HoF nominees if not actually voted in as members. They just did most of their racing in a different series, that wasn't part of the Nascar brand.

I get that Nascar is a business with their own roster of worthy drivers that still hasn't been voted in yet.

As a matter of disclosure, I was raised in the South, and my access or ability to see drivers like Eddy was limited. But I saw them enough times and knew enough to know they were the giants in the Midwest.

Hopefully they along with some others, will never be forgotten for what they did to make short track racing great (even without Nascar).

Sad news for sure. I watched a little ASA here and there as a kid, back when it was on TNN sometime during the late '90s. Mike Eddy is the only ASA driver I saw back then whose name I can immediately recall off the top of my head.

I wasn't a fan of Mike's back then, because I wasn't a fan of Dale Sr., who he reminded me of, from his similar Goodwrench paint scheme to his penchant for playing rough out there at times. That said, like Sr., he was an unquestionably great driver.

Rest easy, Mike.
