Only reason I know him is I was at the 2017 Fall Talladega race he was in and I remember reading at the time that it had been the first time he had raced in Cup since the 90s. IIRC him and someone in a green car got knocked out early by a car who spun trying to come into the pits and went back up the track.

I initially thought of that question with Thompson in mind but when looking up whether the 25 years between his first start in 1992 and his second career start in 2017 were indeed a record I was amazed to find out Thompson only ranks 2nd in that statistic.

I asked that question with Mark Thompson in mind but I knew it was pretty much impossible to answer when I found out 25 years between starts wasn't even a record.

It was Jimmy Ingram, who made his 2nd career start at Darlington in 1952 and his third career start at Dover in 1980.
