More night racing! I’d be 100% down for a random and unexpected Casey Mears victory.

I also wonder what lap Hill will put in his best shot at receiving another bonehead award.

Goodyear Fast Facts — Daytona

NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR Xfinity Series teams have familiar Goodyear Racing Eagle tire setups for this weekend’s night races at Daytona International Speedway.

Cup Series teams will run the same left and right side superspeedway tires as at Daytona and Talladega earlier this season. The right side tire debuted at Daytona in February, offering an updated construction, and was also chosen for the June race at Michigan International Speedway. The left side tire has been used at Daytona since 2022.

For the Xfinity Series, this combination of Eagle tires has been used at Daytona since 2022. Xfinity Series teams use inner liners on tracks 1-mile and longer.

“Teams are familiar with the Goodyear Racing Eagle tires we will bring to Daytona, which helps them set their strategies for the race,” said Justin Fantozzi, Goodyear operations manager for global race tires. “Typically, teams mix in some fuel only and two-tire stops at Daytona, which will add extra elements to the strategy as the race unfolds under the lights.”

The only day between now and next Sunday that doesn’t have some chance of rain is next Wednesday. So if it rains out Saturday and Sunday maybe they can get stage 1 in on Monday, stage 2 on Tuesday and stage 3 on Wednesday. 😃

Yeah I had a bit of trouble with the tropical statement.
Sorry for any confusion. I was using the word 'tropical' referring to the source of precipitation. Pop-up thunderstorms vs tropical storm (depression / tropical storm / hurricane). This weekend's wet stuff isn't connected to any tropical storm activity.

Oh Florida you'll never change, the rain always ruins a good time. I lived there for 5 years, saw it time and time again.

The forecast isn't promising to get a race in, and if that happens...how does NASCAR handle it? This is the last race of the regular season and it's needed to set the field for the playoffs. Wednesday night race? Skip to Darlington as the final and swap in Daytona in it's place?

How does the forecast for tonight look 10x worse than it did like two hours ago? I suppose with how Florida storms are, their forecast is based on what it’s current doing outside, rather than actually looking at weather models.

It's August in the coastal southeast. We operate on the assumption it WILL rain. The forecasts are to give us an idea of how long and how much.

Weather Channel future radar indicates rain from.8:00 pm till 10:00 pm around the Daytona Speedway area...
