WNBA 2025

There is nobody in the WNBA that can drive the basket as well as Kelsey. She is a joy to watch.

IMO, what Kelsey has done for her team this year is unmatched by what any other player has done for their team.

There was a lid on the bucket tonight for the Fever, except for Leslie.

I think Brondello's firing was a mistake.

Agreed 100%. That's a rare misstep from the powers that be in NY. I'm just as flabbergasted at that one as the players surely are.

NSFW, language

Coach Brondello is a great coach who just coached NY to their first ever championship last year. They get bitten hard by the injury bug and go out to a good team (Phoenix) in a best of 3 first round series, and they get rid of her? What the heck? Why was this necessary? Who do they expect to get as her replacement that will be on her level?

Terrible decision.

Some poverty franchise is about to hit the jackpot.

It just doesn't make any sense. Why would they get rid of Brondello. I wonder how many players are free to go elsewhere next year.

I looked it up and answered my own question:

For the upcoming 2026 WNBA season, the New York Liberty have nine universal free agents, including key players like Breanna Stewart, Jonquel Jones, and Sabrina Ionescu, leaving their entire starting lineup in an uncertain position for the new season after a coaching change. Only two players, Nyara Sabally and Leonie Fiebich, are currently under contract for 2026.

Yeah, this upcoming offseason will be a crazy one where most of the vets will be free to go wherever they want.

How about Breanna Stewart going to the Fever.
Opinions?
I've always liked Stewie, but it's way too early for me to have an opinion on any roster moves with this potentially wild offseason coming up. As Indy's roster is constructed right now, they have no need for another elite big. I have no idea if things will stay that way for next season.

I didn't follow the Liberty or Coach Brondello's decisions in each game, but NY's GM is not making even the slightest bit of sense to me. I'm sure Brondello wasn't perfect, but she's a great coach. What the heck is this guy talking about?

Kolb stressed his decision to dump Brondello was part of a “thorough” evaluation process that extended beyond this season. He also emphasized the franchise’s “pride in being innovative and … future-oriented” as part of the reason why it had to happen.

“This decision was in no way punitive, nor was it reactive, but it’s instead rooted in being proactive. Nor was this decision based solely on the results this past season,” Kolb said. “Ultimately we determined that evolution and innovation is what is needed at this time.

“This is not a results-based organization. This is not about not winning or winning. It’s about how do we position ourselves to be at the top of the league in a real sustainable way as the league does evolve in the ways we’re talking about on the floor.”

Hull has been playing with a back injury. Hopefully she can play tonight but should do what is best for herself.

Lexie Hull ties Fever playoff record while fighting through back injury. 'We're just pushing through'

Do wimmins foul out of the game with the 5th foul or on the next foul after the 5th.

I think it is immediately on the 5th , just wanting to understand Lexie's status.

It’s always the same stories with this bumass league.

I don't know why, but I sought out a video of two of my favorites, AT and Phee, colliding. Looked like really unfortunate incidental contact to me, but regardless, seeing poor Phee go flying like that in the initial footage was tough for me to watch. The slow-mo replay of her rolled ankle made it even worse. :(

I've never watched a sport where folks didn't complain about the officiating at some point, but when championship winning coaches like Cheryl Reeve, Becky Hammon, and Steph White are all routinely being as vocal about it as they have been, yeah, we've got a serious problem here.

Exactly! I can’t get over that quote, man. What a wild thing for a GM of a sports team, let alone a championship winning sports team, to say. The guy's entire job is to make personnel decisions that position the team for success, i.e., to win. What the heck is he talking about? 🤦‍♂️

Boston had a strong game - 24 points, 14 rebounds, and 5 assists.
Mitchell as usual had 25 points.
Lexie Hull had 4 steals and played a great defensive game. Her effort on the floor is indispensable.

I hope this isn't seen as pessimistic, Indiana is the only team I watch.
But if they do not win this series, they have still overachieved and have reason to be proud.

A lot of positives to build on.
Nothing wrong with that. Everybody's got their favorite team, and most of the people here are right there with you.

You guys are watching one more team than I'm watching right now. I couldn't tell you the last game I watched - I just know it was sometime earlier this season. All I've been doing is looking at the scores.

The passes glances of Sophie sitting on the becnch makes it all worthwhile.

What a crazy win today. Fun to have Tuesday nite to look forward to.
It does get tiresome though seeing players sprawled all over the
place with every other lay-up. I am not really a basketball expert
so I don't know whether it's something fixable by the league or not.
This Fever team really brewed up some interesting chemistry to get them
this far with all the challenges this year. Its been quite the roller coaster.

CC before a game. CC did a lot of autograph lines this year.

Phoenix eliminated Minnesota yesterday, as I expected with Phee down for the count.

Depending on which Vegas team shows up tomorrow night, we could see an Indiana/Phoenix final, in which case I'll likely be done reading Internet posts about the W for the season. Social media would be beyond toxic. 🤮

I know where everyone's allegiance here would lie. As was the case last year, I'd be torn. Since Minnesota is out, I'd love to see either Lexie or AT get their first championship ring (and to see Steph White get her first championship ring as a head coach - she won one with Indy back in the day as an assistant coach). If Vegas wins tomorrow, I'll be rooting for AT's team but expecting A'ja and them to win it all.
