Yes, the NBA on NBC just feels right, at least to this child of the '90s.
 
The AI Jim Fagan voiceover is a bit too much nostalgia bait for me, but no question that NBC is a breath of fresh air to NBA coverage and net more overall exposure for the league. ESPN trading for the Inside crew was fantastic as well - the show tonight was indistinguishable from its TNT production outside of the network logo.

That's because it's literally being produced by TNT Sports.
And fortunately ESPN is completely hands off and hasn’t tried to ‘influence’ it in any way. It’s only for certain portions of the season but the less we have to see Kendrick Perkins and SAS the better.

I think it was part of the settlement between the NBA and WB Discovery, that TNT produces the show without interference.
 
This is the result of sanctioning bodies partnering with gambling firms at the organizational level while barring the actual competitors from wagering.

Generally yes, this was a terrible precedent for the major sports leagues to set in the quest to gobble up more revenue.

Regarding what has been reported about these stories so far, the investigations and alleged crimes seem to stretch back several years. In the Billups case, they involve underground mafia-connected poker games that could have been a thing 20, 40, or even 100 years ago. Some really old-school vice utilizing some fancy new tech.
 
This is just the tip of the iceberg on sports betting, it will go much deeper than the NBA.
