SoCal San Diego '26

And the video flyover from Jayski I can't seem to embed.

This track is seriously badass and I am now pumped for this event. At first, just based on the map I felt a bit underwhelmed. But at 3.4 miles long that changes the scale dramatically and you see this in the fly-over video. "Turn" 1 looks like a wide-open kink into the 90 degree turn 2. Turns 4 and especially 5 look insanely fast and all in a concrete canyon. The challenge and speed into so many tight turns is going to absolutely test the drivers and cars. Just for reference Chicago was 2.1 miles. This San Diego track looks like an F1 street circuit. Totally awesome.

Could be the L.A. location was the problem?

Could be that LA wasn't a points race.
Could be LA had a goofball format, including not having all 36+ cars on the track at the same time.
Could be LA had already demonstrated a lack of interest, as shown by Fontana sales.
Could be SD's ties to the military.
Could be a street race is more interesting than a 1/4-mile oval.

I guess we will continue to wonder. Nascar isn't telling the fans anything, all we hear is we're busy, we are going to do something with the track we have left...some day.
Yeah, I have given up....moved on....and jumped at the first chance for another opportunity. Coronado is my happy place. To have a race there is beyond a dream. Hotel, tickets, and car already booked. This will be a dream trip.
