It's absolutely possible that tire manufacturers make a tire that wears but doesn't blow. Goodyear just didn't manage to do that.

I remember when the 48 melted the bead in the penultimate race here in 2012. Pretty much conceded the championship to the 2 crew right then and there. Tough track on brakes and tires.
