That could definitely explain some things as to why the 11 wasn't able to catch the 9 on the last run

Not only the change in the car, but the lack of long practice sessions. I think KB really relied on a lot of practice to make adjustments.

Yes, I believe he used the practice sessions to fine tune the car. I noticed his fall as soon as they stopped practice sessions.
