All-Star RACE thread ---- Dover

I'm sorry but this was a disaster today.
- daytime all-star race
- almost 4 hour long all-star race
- terrible format
- poor coverage, felt like fox was just phoning this one in

On the plus side if it was an actual 400 mile race with standard format it probably would have been good.

I mean I'm not gonna lie the invert probably helped a bit. But a weekend with no rain the track really wide and the monster acting up is a nice mix.
Yeah definitely the best weather weekend for Dover in years.
The invert helped but the more horsepower plus the PJ1 helped it race better.
Honestly wish they didn’t have that all-star caution because the racing before that was some of the best I’ve seen at Dover in years

Much of the east coast is in a pretty serious drought. If this continues through the summer, we'll probably see a good one at Richmond too.

This race was a complete mess today. Sure I was happy to see Erik Jones and Zilisch have a good race, but is that what the All Star Race is suppose to be about. Yeah, Denny Hamlin won the race and I think most of us thought that was going to be the case before the race even started, but the disaster was the race was without Chase Elliott in the mix at all, Larson and Blaney pretty much also done and Reddick was up there for sometime until the end. Briscoe had a great race as well and so did Byron, but from the beginning of the final Stage or Segment even with Hamlin having to drive through traffic to get back in front, we all pretty much knew he was going to do so.

I love this track, but this format is a complete mess.

When in the first lap or two key drivers in the race were either out of race for the day or standing no chance to win the race because their cars were so messed up in the crash it started out a complete mess. Then at the end of segment one with another crash that put other cars into the garage it really made it feel like the 2nd segment of the race was a skeleton segment. Fox didn't even know if drivers like Larson & Blaney were even going to be able to return for the final 200 laps and at that point it was almost a given that Denny Hamlin was going to win the race unless Chase Briscoe or Tyler Reddick somehow would hold him off.

Dover Motor Speedway is my favorite track, but the setup of this race just was not done correctly in my opinion. They need to re-think the segments and how they run this race in the future. I did like the day before and the pit crew challenge.

Nascar would not like it and probably have a rule against it looked like a driver could start and park first two segments and win in the third

Exactly, if a driver was already written into the third segment of the race the first two segments didn't much matter at all. Ross Chastain was the only driver who was involved in a wreck in the 1st segment that was unable to return I believe that was already written into the final segment. The rest that were involved in the 1st segment wrecks like Blaney and Larson and others all returned at the tail end of segment 2 so they were ready for the third segment and they were all eligible to win the race as they were all on the lead lap. Can you imagine how Hamlin, Briscoe, or Reddick or even Byron or Jones would have felt if Blaney or Larson or Bubba won the race and One Million dollars after they ran all the laps and Blaney, Larson and Bubba didn't race nearly the amount of laps. It don't make sense.

Does everyone realize that the driver that won the fan vote wasn't even in the top 5 for voting......Yeah real All-Star moment!!!!
