I've watched some plate races from the past and they weren't constantly in a 30+ car pack until they banned tandem drafting. 2000s plate races raced more like modern day Indy racing. When contact happens in front of the field everyone except the backmarkers who can't keep up with the pack are...

I mean let's not fool ourselves. 90% of the folks at these races come to see cars get torn up. That's also why Daytona and Talladega constantly have the most viewers.

When exactly? These 20 car wrecks didn't start happening 3 years ago.

The racing looks completely different. They used to rely on a push to get a run and they were constantly bumping into each other. That's gone thankfully

On the other tracks they probably would. It was around the time they stopped doing practive that so many races turned into late-race ****shows, especially im trucks and Xfinity. And of course those camping at the track would get to see the cars more often.

Whatever they did to these cars since the last plate race I watched worked. This looking more like a 2019-21 Gen 6 race than one from 2022-23.

Of course my guy is a lap down. My Pick'Em season feels like a throwback to the Roush 60 car.

They stopped doing practice sessions at the plate tracks completely because all they were gonna do in practice is tear stuff up.
