NASCAR 2024 - BOLD Prediction Thread

I wish I had made my prediction that NASCAR would review a race from any season and change the winner. Would have been even more correct now.

    2025 schedule news/rumors

It's almost certainly built out and sitting waiting for someone to go into the CMS and switch the pages to public.

    2024 United States Grand Prix

Having the premier motorsport in the world operate like this is just not for me and watching the USGP cemented that. In the same way that changing the points system in NASCAR resulted in drivers instead driving for points or just to get around more than it had before, leading to the introduction...

23XI statement on not signing Charter agreement

At this point I'm hanging back and waiting for the lawyers and courts to do their thing as that will be entertaining enough. However I do have to LOL pretty hard at the notion that horse racing is healthy. Horse racing is a damned disaster being supported by public subsidies related to native...

How long before Deegan is as good as Chadwick

Hauger being 4 tenths faster than anyone else is a thing. Doesn't mean anything necessarily because its just a test, but man, that's a statement regardless.

    Kyle Larson Appreciation Thread

No one is going to assess Larson vs. Jeff Gordon or Dale Earnhardt on the basis of titles won. Not with the degree to which the championship format has changed over time and the general lean towards advanced statistics. It'll be other things like total wins, laps led, pole wins, etc. Frankly...

    High Limit 2024

Raudman says that the Bayston replacement is going to be a shock to practically everyone. Sounds like a fun mystery we'll see play out as soon as the next week when the car and new driver show up to tackle Bridgeport for a 10k to win show.

How long before Deegan is as good as Chadwick

I doubt she ever manages to do as well as Chadwick.

    High Limit 2024

Year 1 is over and it's definitely been interesting. The news about Marks likely going back to PA is very interesting from the perspective of the charters since he finished 4th. My recollection on the contracts is they required you to commit to two years, so that may mean some shifting around of...

It's been 15 years: What do you think happened with Jeremy Mayfield?

Decent watch. Fast forwarded a little here and there but doesn't deal at all with the controversies. I personally would guess that Mayfield Had A Little Too Much Fun Sometimes and probably got busted for recreational use of something like Adderall.

23XI statement on not signing Charter agreement

You know what, I looked through the lawsuit text and it refers to the teams as independent contractors. I am admittedly surprised by that as I had a very hard time imagining what the deliverable was for the team aside from "show up to races and make the bare minimum attempt at completing the...

23XI statement on not signing Charter agreement

No diss to you, but part of the issue IMO (and this is often true online on this topic) is that you are spelling out conditions which may very well be the result of anticompetitive action or at least would certainly be conditions you'd expect in that situation. The rationale of "Just build your...

23XI statement on not signing Charter agreement

Here's the Jayski page on it: https://www.jayski.com/2016-nascar-charter-information/ The stipulations for the charters pretty clearly indicate that teams would be expected to sell the charter if they leased it out for a season and intended to do so again; that can't happen unless the teams...

It's been 15 years: What do you think happened with Jeremy Mayfield?

That's his claim. I'm not telling you whether or not to believe it and in fairness not having an opinion is an excellent response.

It's been 15 years: What do you think happened with Jeremy Mayfield?

He alleges that NASCAR targeted him because he told a writer that Evernham Motorsports had gone in the toilet due to Ray Evernham cheating on his wife with his developmental driver Erin Crocker. Erin Crocker Evernham now works for MRN.

23XI statement on not signing Charter agreement

Separate entity. Also there's plenty of other sports car organizations in the country, and since being a professional driver is only nominally a consideration for being involved with sports car racing, doesn't so much matter.

23XI statement on not signing Charter agreement

Again, not an argument against any of this having been the case. The fact that ARCA served solely at the discretion of NASCAR is actually the problem in a legal sense.

23XI statement on not signing Charter agreement

More than likely. I doubt it would be in either party's best interest to publicize the terms.

23XI statement on not signing Charter agreement

What's the cost (or other barriers) to enter the market? Has anyone else ever tried to enter the market, and what has happened to said prior individuals or entities that have tried to enter this market? This is not impossible to do.
