Who was the worst driver to win a Cup race

Remember that one. I am not above talking NASCAR quasi-fixing races. I think when the sport needs it, they will give certain teams a call, like Jr. in the 2001 Pepsi 400. With the media hype the King was getting that week, I often wonder if that was supposed to be 201. Sacks would get my...

    JGR press conference

I will have to agree, used to have a lot of respect for Matt when he was coming thru the ranks with Roush, but since he has gotten to Gibbs he has changed.

    JGR press conference

No, Jayski has made a career out of being 50% right. This came out of Mooresville. A family member who has worked inside the sport says the hot that Matt is ready for some kind of a change. Didn't say anything until I saw about the pc.

    JGR press conference

I have gotten word Matt is either leaving Gibbs or retiring but not until the end of 2017.

    Retirement

Don't be surprised if Kenseth walks away at the end of this year. And as one of the last true-blue Petty fans, the King should have won the '88 spring race at Richmond. He finished third but timing of the last caution and late stops folks that were there will tell you NASCAR screwed up and 201...

What Driver Would You Most Like To See Their A$$ Kicked?

Kyle Busch...frankly he still needs an ass-beating for what he did to Hornaday.

Carl Edwards says he has no regrets on retirement decision

You left off the possibility of the 3rd Ganassi ride.

What do you think about the changes?

The stage racing is yet another necessary gimmick, but for goodness sake, if you are gonna do it don't count the laps between segments. On the five-minute clock, I think it will eventually go away. I like the idea of the rule but I am not sure the multi-million paying sponsors will like it...

Carl Edwards says he has no regrets on retirement decision

Carl will come back. My guess and just a guess but I think Arris wanted Suarez in the car after the Xfinity title. There is more to the story.

    Xfinity RACE thread --- Daytona

This has just been stupid. Thanks, NBC!! This stage racing may work on the intermediate tracks but not on the speedways or road courses.

NASCAR, once a cultural icon, hits the skids (WSJ)

This article just proves NASCAR is a sinking ship with very little time left to turn things around if any.

What exactly was better about NASCAR back in the day, and why was that way better?

The problem is Brian is a knee jerk reactionary. The Chase didn't need to be invented just because MK spanked the field in 2003. Does the 16th place man after 26 even deserve a chance at the title? No. Do we need stupid eliminations? No. Does Ky Busch deserve to be called a Cup Champion...

What exactly was better about NASCAR back in the day, and why was that way better?

Go back to the 2003 pt system, get rid of phantom cautions and GWCs that would fix a ton for me.

What exactly was better about NASCAR back in the day, and why was that way better?

When I was a kid in the '80s you could get about 8-10 cars in 1/64 dicast. The 43, 3, digard 88, Cale's Valvoline 27, Kyle Petty's 7-Eleven Pontiac, Wood Bros 21 when Baker drove it, DW's 11, Bill's 9 Ford. Then Racing Champions came along and you could have the full field if wanted. The...

What exactly was better about NASCAR back in the day, and why was that way better?

Remember how good Bobby Hamilton was in the 43 in 1996? If it hadn't been for your 24 he might have won more than Phoenix. Speaking of teams that could run off a good streak out of nowhere.

What exactly was better about NASCAR back in the day, and why was that way better?

Another thing that made the '80's and '90's better than today. It didn't matter if your name was Earnhardt, Waltrip, or Elliott or if you were Jimmy Means, J.D. McDuffie, or Ronnie Thomas mechanical failure always lurked around the next corner and it made the racing better.

My favorite was '05 Chase for the Cup as far as games go. Still is.
