    Cup RACE thread --- Darlington

Is it really the car though or is it once again having a track where there is some tire fall off making things more interesting and the racing better? It's funny - I was talking with a childhood friend this weekend and he used to watch NASCAR with me back in the day but has since lost interest...

    Cup RACE thread --- Kansas

Is there a place I said he wasn't good on dirt or pavement? What I am saying is far from imaginary also. I even recall some of those in the sport saying it when he got into a tussle at the Bristol dirt race and the radio chatter was something along the lines of "he thinks he's better than...

    Cup RACE thread --- Kansas

I have run into some of those fans and some do think their driver is the best and some don't. I also don't necessarily agree with your assessment that you can confidently say Larson is the best in the business right now unless you tell me the rules on what measurables we are going by. As I...

    Cup RACE thread --- Kansas

I am not disputing Larson's accomplishments there. He has run well. I am just tired of some of his fans who want to go on about how he is the best ever.

    Cup RACE thread --- Kansas

Look - I don't see the big deal to admit I am still pissed about that. I am pissed about it because Chase has always raced Larson clean and never roughed him up that I can remember but does not get the same treatment in return. I am still pissed about Hamlin at Martinsville in 2017 also but at...

    Cup RACE thread --- Kansas

Some fair points.... I will say though that yes - In my opinion he has underachieved outside of 2021 but only based on those that think he is the second coming. He is great in WOO for sure as well but to me that does not necessarily have anything to do with CUP cars. I think as of right...

    Cup RACE thread --- Kansas

Here's the deal - Larson is a great driver so he's going to be a target no matter what. That said - I don't feel like he does himself any favors with the things he comes out and complains about and intentionally or not, he seems to have an issue when he does not win (tires at Bristol, blocking...

    Cup RACE thread --- Kansas

Good race and exciting finish. My only issue with the race was track position meaning a little too much. A little too hard to pass but not the worst I have seen. I am surprised to see the complaining on what Larson did to win. Seemed like good hard racing to me. On the plus side too there...

Come on man. Larson did nothing wring there. Hard racing for the win and no one crashed.

    Cup RACE thread --- Kansas

I agree with that and that's with the fact that the caution helped my driver go from finishing around 8th to finishing 3rd and having a shot at the win. Very exciting but I am old school and love seeing strategy play out. Hamlin was the luckiest SOB yesterday with cautions coming right when he...

    Cup RACE thread --- Bristol

Are you saying Phoenix comes off a good TV showcase and the networks WANT a boring Championship race? I have to disagree if so. Phoenix should almost be the last place they run this the finale. It's boring and has no long-term historical significance to NASCAR. All these races into the...

    Cup RACE thread --- Dover

Sure. Larson just seems to do it more and it's a bad look when a guy wins as much as he does and then bitches and makes excuses when he does not. I am trying to think of examples of others doing it....I know Chase was pissed at The Glen in 22. Hamlin always has something to bitch about and I...

    Cup RACE thread --- Dover

It's debatable on Hamlin. I thought the 5 was faster and so was the 19 at times. It's once again an issue though that on new tires no one can pass as all the cars are running similar speeds. Once the tires wore passing was possible as Chase and Larson made their way to the front but man if...

    Cup RACE thread --- Dover

I can't agree with that. It's putting the emphasis on wins because Byron has 3. I am still skeptical of if he can keep it up all year as he started great last season too and seemed to fade off at the end. I still think the 11 and the 5 are the ones to beat right now but I'd also throw Chase...

    Dover Pre-Race Thread

I must be getting old because I barley remember that but yes it was that race. I was pulling for both Kasey Kahne in the 5 and Chase in the 24 at that point and they finished 3rd and 4th so I thought that was pretty cool.

    Dover Pre-Race Thread

Nice. I went to Dover in 2016. It was interesting because I took my dad and he had been there in the late 80's and was telling me that the place was jam-packed full then and none of the seats had been removed for advertising space. The crowd was half-way decent for today's standards but still...

    Cup RACE thread --- Texas

There is no question that Denny edges Chase and if asked right now who has had the better career I have to give the nod to Denny championship or no. The longevity and top-5 rate are pretty staggering. As you said though - it's close and it's close despite Chase going through this recent lull...

    Cup RACE thread --- Texas

Man...Just taking a look at the board this AM as it was a busy weekend. I did not watch the race until around 10:00pm last night. Obviously great as a Chase fan to see him back in victory lane and get that monkey off his back but I will say this race is an example of why we should not...

William Byron is the best driver in NASCAR

I can't say Byron's success is all about the car since he ran very well in 2021 in the old car.

William Byron is the best driver in NASCAR

That's an interesting thought...I thought most of Chase's experience coming up was with super late models so you'd think he would have adapted to this new car better. All about that right feel I guess.
