Going to be good field of cars at the Hunt The Front race at Smoky Mountain Speedway tomorrow. Bloomquist, McDowell, Overton, Moyer, Gustin, English, and all the HTF regulars plus regional racers. Red Farmer will be there signing autographs at 5:30.
If the cars start becoming too aero sensitive for the 1.5-mile tracks, the car will be considered a failure long term. So far, it's been good on those types of tracks. It has stunk on the short tracks and I supposed to jury is still out on the road courses. A spec car might be good in theory...
I haven't seen a Xfinity race all year. Their races are usually on at odd times and it's hard to know if it's an early afternoon race or a late afternoon/evening race. Fox does little to promote them.
We had to see Lajoie's in car feed on social media instead of on the broadcast.
A couple of their drone shots were pretty cool. The one on the restart for the final stage was excellent.
I thought RCR was making some head way a couple of years ago when Reddick was running good and winning some races. That continued a bit with Busch. But things have really fallen off there over the last 20 months or so.
It's my understanding from some of Mike Joy's tweets is Fox had a deal with whoever provided these graphics. They use the same ones for NFL games. If the NFL games don't have them this fall, they won't be around any more. If they're back, expect to see them one more year on their NASCAR coverage...
Fox does a half-ass production on all levels. They ditched Vince Welch for Jamie Little for the truck races (fail). The Xfinity races are not fluid at all with the Cup drivers having their discussions that might not have anything to do with what's happening on the track. The Cup races are all...
I always thought NBC gave the Xifinity series more justice than Fox does. Fox has the current drivers in the booth and seem to focus more on the Cup drivers in the race. NBC will talk about Ryan Ellis, Jeremy Clements, and others that don't drive for the big teams.
I'm starting to wonder if Dale Jr. is waiting on Childress to get out of racing and he buy that team/charters. They are close. Childress doesn't look to be going anywhere soon. But he's in his 70's and will get out sometime in the next few years.
