Tired of seeing the same 3 cars capable of winning on speed.

You can have the same kind of parity on restrictor plate tracks at Kentucky. All you have to do is have lap cars turn into one of Truex/Harvick/Busch when they come to lap them and put them in the wall. I think field quality is down - teams and drivers. There's not much NASCAR can do to hide that.

Is Hendrick Motorsports no longer a Super Team?

Larson's a dirt car driver and he sets up the car as loose as possible to get the speed?

Is Hendrick Motorsports no longer a Super Team?

I'm sure Hendrick and his drivers are hating Larson at this point. If Larson wasn't doing what he was doing, they could make the "it's fully the car, none of the Chevys are performing" argument.

    2018 Darlington Throwbacks

I like that they're doing some odd throwbacks to other series' vehicles. One of my favorites last year was whoever recreated the mid-to-late 1980s Kraco paint scheme.

    2018 IndyCar news/misc. stuff

Not too sure. Urrutia really should be winning Lights this year, and he's a distant 3rd to O'Ward and Herta. And when you compare to last season, he lost to Kaiser, who I'm not sure we're going to ever see him in an Indycar again after using up his sponsorship money. There's an Uruguayan around...

    2018 IndyCar news/misc. stuff

Well last year as an upstart they ran 9th, 5th, and 15th at Indy, Texas, and Pocono. His best finishes this year have been two 14ths after 11 races. I'm happy for Daly to get another opportunity, and my wife who became fans of him and Rossi after Amazing Race is too, but agree that Chaves is...

    SILLY SEASON 2019

I hope DiBenedetto gets to move up. I was more focusing on drivers leaving or going down since that's how the openings get created. Wallace will stay at Petty unless he has a mountain of sponsorship cash behind him that gets him a ride higher up in the field - plausible, although I think such a...

    Cup RACE thread --- Daytona

People I think want to see a sense of danger in what they're seeing. The less danger there is, the more guys in auto racing might as well be drivng a Celica on the interstate. That in my opinion is different from wanting to see a wreck though. I've gone to the Indy 500 and sat at the entrance to...

    Still waiting Eillot's win

You are correct. I would say the main difference is Dale came up in an era though where if he didn't win, he wouldn't have gotten promoted on. That's not how things work in racing today because it's more sponsorship money-driven versus purse money-driven. And Jeff Gordon changed the sport...

    Cup RACE thread --- Daytona

I meant the field en masse being the crop of drivers, not just the guys I listed. The guys I listed it was to show how guys in the back half of the grid can run at 95% power of the big dogs and can still finish well after big dogs all wreck. Seriously, why do these teams spend any money on these...

    Still waiting Eillot's win

Jimmie was nowhere to be found the last half of the season and Kahne's win was about as flukish as you could get outside of restrictor plates and rain-aided.

    Still waiting Eillot's win

I agree with your line of thinking as far as the why. To be fair, if Dale Earnhardt Jr. had any other name he'd've probably never gotten out of Myrtle Beach, and he was the most popular driver in the Series by far the past decade. Last year in a starting lineup, I counted 7 drivers that were...

Remove the service lane. Right next to the double yellow line is grass. It's the absolute clearest track limit you can have other than a wall.

Random NASCAR Stuff to talk about.....

8 races to go until the Fairy Godmother waves her wand and magically gives 16 drivers more than a thousand points each. "all winners plus top non-race winners to get to 16" So this only ever results in any change to the makeup of the top 16 when someone outside the top 16 in points has a...

    1. Sure, everyone else wrecked. But good finish and payday for Timmy Hill and the MBM team. 2. Why don't they just plant grass underneath the double yellow line in the tri-oval?

    SILLY SEASON 2019

Drivers I would not be surprised if they get shuffled around next year: -Johnson (retirement) -Kurt Busch (retirement) -Bayne (pretty easy to see, might be more the car's fault but you can either get someone more experienced to work out the problems or start out anew) -Kahne (Hendrick no longer...

    3. Allmendinger, 23rd in points 4. Kahne, 26th in points 5. Buescher, 24th in points 6. Ty Dillon, 29th in points 7. DiBenedetto, 30th in points 11. Jeffrey Earnhardt, 36th in points on a partial schedule, one of the worst cars in the field 12. Gaughan, 38th in points on a partial schedule 13...

    2018 DAYTONA -- THE COKE ZERO SUGAR 400 - Pre-Race Thread

I remember a later race that had same day tape delay and they did a "we cut ahead in the race" deal. When and where can't possibly tell you. But I think it was an ESPN race.

    Indy & the Brickyard 400

CART never sanctioned the Indy 500. Although the result always counted in the CART standings save a couple years in the '80s, the Indy 500 was a USAC event until the IRL removed USAC as its sanctioning body in 1997. As far as changes. They pretty much have to keep the distinct 4 corners to keep...
