There were a few stories a week or so back that said Matt and Gene Haas have had discussions ... one said Gene Haas was seen leaving Kenseth's motorhome. Where there is smoke (no pun intended), there could be fire.

There were some reports a week or two back that Gene Haas and Matt Kenseth have had discussions recently .. would love to see something work out where Matt could race a few more years for a competitive team.

Based on what we've seen the past 15 races or so Joey will not have the speed to compete for a win. It's just not there this year .. no chase for you!!

As a Kenseth fan I'd be okay with the #27, but I'm still holding out hope that he can snag the #77 and stay with Toyota. It would be interesting to see just how competitive Matt could be in the #27 .. might be kind of ugly. I'm sure he could be up front regularly in the #77.

I'd like to see Dale get a win before the year is out, but I don't want to see him get one before the playoffs. He doesn't deserve to be in the playoffs this season .. he's had a bad year.

This whole driver having to find his own sponsorship thing is a joke. Most of these teams have sales staffs that are supposed to be constantly on the prowl for new sponsors .. it would be nice if some of them would step up their game and lock down their own sponsors for their own cars. It...

I think Kenseth has a good shot at the #77 if they can land partnership. Toyota speaks very highly of Matt when it comes to his skill, leadership, and professionalism. They'd like to see him stay under the Toyota banner.

I'm sure it was sponsorship related. I don't think Kenseth brings anything to the table with him. Dewalt might have been an option, but they are signed to JGR for a couple more years. I think Liberty might have stepped up for Byron and gave him the edge there.

Interesting comments from the head of TRD today. Sounds like he'd love for Matt to stay with Toyota. Who knows maybe Visser can lock down some sponsorship at the #77 and Matt can drive for him. Matt's a reasonable guy .. he knows the current climate and would more than likely take a pay cut...

I bet you are .. your guy wins most of them. Haha. It has been a good addition .. the racing really picks up. It adds a decent strategy element as well.

Current qualifying is about 100 times more enjoyable to watch than the previous format.

I think Kenseth is going to break his long non-winning streak this week. He's been much improved of late and finished best among the toyota's in qualifying (starting 4th). He also needs the win to lock down a playoff spot and just to show people he's still a force at the grand old age of 45.

Dale sat there in a question and answer session a month ago and said that Matt Kenseth would have a ride for 2018 that is every bit as good as the one he has now. I think now Dale was just propping up a friend, but at the time it sure seemed that Dale might now a little more about the situation...
