Random NASCAR Stuff to talk about.....

Going to the night race in the Fall, driving up from Atlanta with 2 of my little ones. Really just want advice on where I should try to sit and what is a good place to spend the night afterwards, preferably in my direction.

Random NASCAR Stuff to talk about.....

Is there an ongoing thread for each track somewhere? I need some advice about my first trip to Bristol this coming season.

Kyle and Samantha Busch suffer a misscarriage

Been through this too. It's a lot to shoulder. Prayers for the soul of the little one and for the strength of the parents.

The phenomenon of title contenders winning the final race.

When they started this whole idea of a playoff back in 2004 I really thought itwas unnecessary, but if they insisted on doing something to drive up interest in the end of the season, the easiest way, as I said before, would have been to simply make the later races worth more points. That's the...

The phenomenon of title contenders winning the final race.

Certainly not me, except for when I'm watching football or baseball of course. Unfortunately, the people who DO care about it are the Nascar bosses who looked at the way the attendance and TV ratings always spike for the "playoffs" in those other sports and decided they are hell-bent on finding...

The phenomenon of title contenders winning the final race.

What makes it so awkward trying to come up with a "playoff" format for this sport is the nature of the contests - all the teams play in the same game at the same time, as opposed to a sport like football or baseball, or even drag racing, where you would see head-to-head contests, which allow one...

The phenomenon of title contenders winning the final race.

I'm not really married to any particular scheme. Just make it so every season ends with a race like that 1992 race in Atlanta. Go.

The phenomenon of title contenders winning the final race.

Yeah I'm all for getting rid of the playoffs too but that would he way too sensible and logical. If they wanted to make it more competitive at the end of the season, they didn't really have to make a playoff system. They could have simply made it so the races have increasing point value as the...

The phenomenon of title contenders winning the final race.

Perhaps they could do something like award the race win and trophy at the end of stage 2, and then have stage 3 be just a shootout between the 4 championship contenders, starting in the order they finished stage 2, and allowed to use a backup car if they had crashed during the race.

The phenomenon of title contenders winning the final race.

Yeah I'm not saying it's an absolute 100% lay down by the other drivers. If, for instance, Jimmie Johnson had been in a position in the final laps at Homestead to go for a win and extend his streak I'm sure he would have taken it. I think it's more of just an attitude of not wanting to be the...

The phenomenon of title contenders winning the final race.

Yes I find this fishy as well, and I think there is a reason for it, but I don't think it's any sort of conspiracy by NASCAR. I think it's more of an informal gentleman's agreement among all the drivers that the 4 finalists will be expected to race aggressively (since point strategy is no longer...

    Race pics and experiences

Thanks Lew! I have a another daughter too - my middle child - haven't gotten her to a race yet because she's a bit of a whiner/complainer, but hopefully she grows out of that and we'll get her to come along soon.

    2018 Talladega -- 1000BULBS.COM 500 - Pre-Race Thread

Can any Dega vets offer some tips on the best opportunity to get autographs and pic with drivers/owners? Is there any chance at all for that on race day or would we really need to come out the day before?

Autoweek: Chase Elliott winning is the fix NASCAR needs the most

A popular and photogenic young guy like Chase winning is great and might help a bit, but the main things hurting NASCAR are the same as the things hurting MLB and NFL - it's just hard to fill large outdoor venues for sporting events nowadays. The TV experience and availability has just gotten so...
