So I guess im not crazy. My age group is 9%... EDIT: Or does that make me crazy for following Nascar at my age? lol

Maybe they could do another text-a-thon "fan vote" on car/track changes. Then maybe the younger crowd will weigh in lol :)

Well put. I still think not all is lost though. I think if the cars were changed back to their showroom stock roots (safety provisions ofcourse), the younger crowd would connect. AND, it might be more cost effective for other manufacturers to join NASCAR hoping for the old, "win on sunday, sell...

Couldn't agree more. Ever been to your local small town circle track and watched a race in the "strictly stock" class? Some of the funnest s*** I've ever seen! Are the cars going 200mph? No. But are they ragged out, sideways, beating and banging the entire race? YES!

In all reality, I dont think getting rid of power steering will make the cars harder to drive. Having owned a fox body that I put a manual steering rack in, its not really that hard. A car that is set up for manual steering will actually have more feedback to the driver. A car that is supposed...

I'd be fine with that. But why cant NASCAR and the manufacturers team up and dovelop cars like what the manufacturers have done for drag racing. Check out these factory drag cars, built specifically for racing, and available at your local dealership.

Ok great, changes are made for safety and speed. Then please tell me what is safer and faster about a solid axle truck arm rear suspension at over 200mph.

In regards to the argument about "ratings". I dont give a rats ass what the ratings are. The point of this thread was stating that in my opinion, the younger crowd (id say mid-20s and younger) doesnt embrace NASCAR. And, what can be done to change that. Call me crazy, but it just seems that way...

Webster's definition of a stock car - stock car noun. : a car used for racing that has the same basic structure as a car normally sold to the public but has a more powerful engine, a stronger frame, etc. Is that what we've got? I dont think so.

So youre saying they dont care about attracting new fans? And why wont road courses make a bit of difference?

Yeah its insane. Manufacturers have been omitting transmission dipsticks since the early 2000's. Hell some MB's dont even have engine oil dipsticks. People treat cars like refrigerators these days. Drive it till it breaks then throw it away.

Lots of good stuff here. As much as I would hate to see V8's go away, the Gen 7 car should be interesting.

I also do not want traction control. But updates to the chassis such as IRS and bigger wheels (only for bigger brakes) would be welcome changes in my opinion. I see why they dont want to use spec production engines because they want everyone to have close to the same horsepower but it will cause...

Again, I think the teams should have to go to the dealer and buy the cars the same way we do. The way it used to be. Thats real brand recognition, not 3 of the exact same cars, with the exact same suspension (prehistoric by the way), with bascially the same engine (also prehistoric), just...
