    NASCAR Death Bed

There are disaffected members that watch and follow the series and God bless them as the series can't afford to lose another soul. The losses over the last 10 years are staggering and this year has amped them up even more.

Kyle Petty on “Most Non-Aggressive Martinsville Race”

Most of the races I can watch part of or do an abbreviated version and I am happy but Martinsville is one of the tracks I really look forward too. It isn't that the last race was bad it just wasn't up to Martinsville standards. I know there are people that think every race is a good race and...

Monster Energy's status as a sponsor of NASCAR

I think the whole deal went down 10-15 years ago and had to do with Bruton wanting to build a drag strip. I believe county officials agreed to pay for infrastructure for the endeavor but Bruton never got anything in writing and got mad and sued as he didn't like the length of time the process of...

Monster Energy's status as a sponsor of NASCAR

Can you imagine if the owner of the track in Joliet went to the city and said "build us a new racing facility or we are leaving?" After the city fathers quit laughing they would tell them not to let door at city hall hit them on the ass on their way out of town. You have to have something in...

Monster Energy's status as a sponsor of NASCAR

Nascar has had the good fortune to collect a lot of gravy over the years and still does.

Monster Energy's status as a sponsor of NASCAR

Even if Nascar had to take less money it is still good news for them.

    NHL 2017-2018

There should be some good round 1 match ups with Toronto facing off against Boston or Tampa, Columbus and Pittsburgh and it will be nice seeing the Caps dispatch the Flyers.

I would have checked in first to see if Kerry Collins was available.

"In a separate filing last week, SMI, which owns nine race tracks nationwide including the one in Concord, said total revenue fell 7.4 percent last year. Admissions-related revenue fell to $86.9 million, down from $90.6 million, but broadcasting revenue rose to $209.5 million from $201.8...

Sports TV ratings, etc. Random sports talk

You need to check out Skedball that was posted for this week as the worst rated NCAA BB game drew 7.8 million fans (Loyola Chicago-Kansas State) on TBS. I didn't look but that is likely a higher number of viewers than Cup has received for the last 3-4 years other than the Daytona 500. 7.8...

Rate The Cup Race: Martinsville I

6.5 No extra love given to Nascar for not artificially manipulating the race as that is how it should have always been.

    2018 Martinsville - STP 500 - Pre Race Thread

Plan for a delay of the race? I think it all depends as if you are making a concerted effort to get to a track and are considering it part of a vacation you should build in extra time. I always had tickets in hand before I left home for a race so I planned an extra time but never had to wait...

No worries.....short track racing tomorrow......weather will be dandy.

    Carl Edwards retires

All I am hoping for is a 2-3 more short track dates whenever the possibility arises. It is possible that attendance and ratings for short tracks will suck just as bad as they do for a lot of the other races or they could be the same or better. I realize that there are some that don't care for...

    NASCAR - Television Ratings Thread

I just hope the race tomorrow is enjoyable for everyone including those that are not crazy about short tracks. I sure would like to see more on the schedule so I hope lots of people watch tomorrow and the race gets a good rating.

    Carl Edwards retires

Why not give the short tracks a shot in Cup? The first 5 races have been been held on non short tracks and have all been big losers in the ratings department so why not try some short tracks? I don't think they can be any worse and it least it would give race fans something to look forward too.

    Carl Edwards retires

I am confident that short track racing will induce more salivating and drooling than the cookie cutters do as the beating and banging and tire donuts have thrilled race fans for many years. Nascar offers plenty for those that like to watch races as science experiments followed by dry recitations...
