I am hoping that Bristol will be the race of the year so far and make up for Martinsville. I believe the race had about 5.5 million viewers in 2016 so hopefully this race can do likewise

Monster Energy's status as a sponsor of NASCAR

The reality is Nascar needed a way to save face as no company wants to spend meaningful money for the privilege of sponsoring the series. Nascar came up with some nebulous plan that will likely be forgotten by the end of the week and Monster says adios and Nascar attempts to stave off another...

Sounds like there could be an outright bidding war for Nascar broadcasts rights next go round.

Steve Phelps should go on tour with Chris Rock as that dude is funny.

Monster Energy's status as a sponsor of NASCAR

As long as the current broadcast deal is in effect Nascar can do the three ring circus thing with impunity and they may be able to get another similar broadcast deal when this one expires and continue on with the circus act.

    NASCAR Death Bed

Monster dumping Nascar is big news as far as bad news goes. Red Bull found out years ago that it was folly to partner with Nascar and evidently Monster came to the same conclusion. Energy Drink companies like non stop action and an edgy product that a young audience follows. Well with Nascar's...

No mas on Lew, Michael and the cornhole please. As far as ratings go I think they were off a little over 40% compared to last year and some people will say that Nascar is doing no worse than the NFL when it comes to market erosion. There have already been some good comments showing the loss in a...

Great news as I think that continuity is for the best and I hope that a 2 year deal is reached so it won't become a distraction next year.

I have no problem with how you operate concerning stick and ball and the ratings of them and if I did I would just skip over them.

Sports TV ratings, etc. Random sports talk

When it comes to Nascar's ratings there is not a whole lot to be discussed as I think the Texas race was off over 30% and most of the others this year are off in the 20% range. I suppose you can try and list all the reasons Nascar is tanking in terms of popularity but the real reason is likely...

    BUBBA WALLACE FINISHED SECOND!

Richard had a great driving career and has traded off his name as an owner for many years so it is hard to feel sorry for him. Does he even have an equity stake or any decision making power with the company that bears his name? I feel bad for people like Bud Moore, Junie Donlavey and many of the...

    BUBBA WALLACE FINISHED SECOND!

IDK that I will ever look at Wallace's stats but I do know that if I was going to make any pronouncements he would need to have a body of work compiled among other things. The kid raced a little last year and 7 races this year and that is not a body of work.

Lots of good stuff from this week as the race may have been off 30% but still had almost 3 million viewers, was the most watched motorsports program of the weekend and throw in a sold out TMS and William Byron's top 10.......well as I say.....good stuff.
