Monster Energy's status as a sponsor of NASCAR

Nascar is a different beast as you can be a broadcaster and a team owner and until they were shamed into changing the rules a triple A player could go down to single A and win a championship and those are just a couple of things. Things are not as cut and dried, IMO, but I certainly see your point.

Holy cow as that scheme blows up the spiff meter.

Interest builds around possible changes to NASCAR schedule

The roval race will be interesting and one I am looking forward to seeing as I hope it is a real positive for the drivers and fans. Moving around the races is just 6 of one and a half dozen of the other, IMO but we will see if expected lower temps do anything for Brickyard attendance.

Both Brad and Denny have never struck me as the brightest bulbs.

Interest builds around possible changes to NASCAR schedule

"You have a championship race here, and you bring people that haven't been here before, they're going to come to the next one when it's on its regular date," Harvick said. "We have to build this enthusiasm in every race market. "When you take that championship race and that all-star race and...

All I can say is that I watch cup racing in a way that I enjoy and that works for me and I don't claim it is the best way or even a good way. I have done the best I can in explaining why I watch the way I do and I never meant it to become a source of consternation. I would have never guessed any...

Time to flame away @ Chocolate

I would find it bizarre to sit and watch something I wasn’t enjoying or didn’t find compelling. Why would I spend discretionary time engaged in something that wasn’t satisfying? Who is the arbiter of what I should watch and how I should watch it? Why would anyone give a hoot in the first place?

I definitely watch as I have seen parts of every race this year.

This is hilarious. When my interest in a sporting event is limited, I tend to watch the end if I watch at all. How do you have the curiosity and patience to watch "a stage", essentially an early quarter of a race, but then some force habitually intervenes and you lose all interest in the...

Time to flame away @ Chocolate

Say it ain't so! I think there are quite a few people on this forum that are big Nascar fans including yourself and I know I really enjoyed Nascar for many years. These days I normally watch parts of the race and I don't know that I have even seen the end of a race so far this year. I may watch...

Monster Energy's status as a sponsor of NASCAR

I can see people wanting to what is expedient and take the dough and from a short term perspective it makes great sense. NASCAR normally operates in the short term so I am sure they will get all they can and worry later

    NASCAR Death Bed

There may be some other sports that are down year over year but Nascar clearly wins the deathbed award as they have been tanking for 15 years in viewership and attendance. Each race this year has been down 15-20% which represent big losses.

The only place for emotion in voting for awards is the Daytime Soaps as being the best is about what you have accomplished not how you feel personally about someone for goodness sake. I think the world of Bobby Isaac and if emotion ruled the day I would pick him as the best but it would make no...

Monster Energy's status as a sponsor of NASCAR

The quality of the partnership is far more important long term (think Winston) than taking 10-15 million a year. If you think the short term view of taking the most they can get from whatever company is writing the checks I accept our difference of opinion.

All of this just seems like innocuous talk to kill time when you have to go 2 weeks without a race. With Nascar you don't have the benefit of multiple games, injuries, match ups, strategies or many of the other things that stir the stick and ball drink.

Monster Energy's status as a sponsor of NASCAR

I hear you as when anyone announces a multi-year deal with Nascar it is not uncommon for it to be 2 years.

Interest builds around possible changes to NASCAR schedule

I am being sarcastic and I doubt that anyone truly believes there is no such thing as a bad race, all commercials on Nascar broadcasts are sold and the racing has never been better than today. Of course you never know as some people have unique views.

Something like this will get some Nascar fans jabbering but I doubt anyone outside of the existing fan base will know about it. I will ask around when I am out this afternoon.

Monster Energy's status as a sponsor of NASCAR

I think it send the wrong message if you have an array of sponsors signing on for a couple of years and leaving. If Nascar was getting 75 million per year it would be worth it but not for 10-15 million or whatever the next deal is worth.
