Oh, yeah, definitely a tire test first, especially since running the road course (most likely) means running the track clockwise, which shifts a lot of the load (especially in in road course thirteen, aka oval one) to the left rear. (which were the main culprit in the F1 disaster)

Wouldn't surprise me in the least. And heat exhaustion is brutal. Take it from someone who recently got scorched at a job site. I wonder how much the heat played into the string of crashes in the final stage.
