If you win with a cheated up car, your team was the one who cheated so you should be penalized. The infraction in question here was not committed by the driver or their team so why should the driver be penalized for an infraction committed by a different team that he had nothing to do with?

Missed the final 4 by seven points, there were 8 points available at the 600 and 5 points for the full season championship. If Larsen didn't skip the 600 he might be racing for a championship next year and we wouldn't have had the bell/Byron debacle.
