F1 Qatar Race Thread (Presented by Track limits)

It's a little more complicated than that. Verstappen can win one, but it still matters how he does in the other. I built a quick little chart for points possibilities over the last two GPs. The X-axis is Hamilton's average finish between the two races and the Y-axis is Verstappen's average...

F1 Qatar Race Thread (Presented by Track limits)

I would think purposefully driving yourself off track to prevent someone from taking a position would meet a penalty under the rules below. In any case, the concern over competitiveness in F1 isn’t due to on track rules. It’s because there’s a big delta in cars. That’s part of the interest in...

    2021 Sao Paulo Grand Prix

Not to mention, Nico actually kept the car on track. Max's is even more egregious.

    2021 Sao Paulo Grand Prix

That's his apex in turn 4. Seems like at minimum that's leaving the track for a lasting advantage. I mean, for crying out loud that turn was a point of emphasis during practice and qualifying... He knew he was going to get passed there, that's why dive bombed the damn corner. He doesn't miss...

    Turkish GP Race Thread

I think Hamilton would have likely ended up where he finished whether he pitted or not on lap 51. If you model his lap times with Ocon's (who ran the whole race on 1 set) he was averaging about 1% better lap time throughout the race. Assuming that trend held relative to Ocon, Perez would have...

Conditions look similar for the race as they were for qualifying. Should make for a good race with track evolution.

    What happens to online returns?

https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2021/11/free-returns-online-shopping/620169/ This explosive growth in online sales has also magnified one of e-commerce’s biggest problems: returns. When people can’t touch things before buying them—and when they don’t have to stand in front of...

    Italian Grand Prix Race Thread

I see it as predominantly Verstappen's fault. There aren't 2 lines through T1 & T2. The car behind has to yield to the car ahead at the entry of T1 or you're going to have a collision.

    F1: 2021 Dutch Grand Prix

At least it looks like it will be dry as bone for this weekend. That place in the rain would be crazy.

    F1: 2021 Dutch Grand Prix

I don't see how a pass can really be safely executed out of turn 4, at least until turn 9. The track is ~9m wide, which is like 1/3 narrower than Maggots and Becketts through there. I don't see how you can take an alternate line through 4, 5, and 6 to overtake a car ahead of you. Plus, there's...

    F1: 2021 Dutch Grand Prix

Yeah, it looks pretty tight. Seems like turn 3 and the DRS into turn 11 offer opportunities for overtaking. Wonder how well they'll be able to follow during turns 13 and 14 into DRS for the turn 1 opportunity.

I’ve driven the Masta straight before… it’s just a public street now, but it retains the same geometry with the kink.

They shouldn't change the corners, but if barrier safety can be improved with runoff or angles, I'm for that.

    F1 Silverstone Grand Prix

The whole suing for something that happened in a race really needs to be dealt with by the FIA. It seems like the regulations would stipulate some kind of liability waiver for on track incidents. You can’t have a series where teams sue each other over accidents that happen during a race.

    Interrested

Full simulation station is what I'm aiming for. I know sky's the limit on where things can go, so I can bump my budget up a bit, but would like to have a decent setup that's not ridiculous.

@SpeedPagan what setup would you make with a $2500 budget? Not including monitor or computer.

    F1 Silverstone Grand Prix

Max will learn the hard way going forward it seems. My point wasn’t that Max intended to crash, but that he knew Lewis was there and thought the aggressive turn was going to result in the same thing it had been doing for him. Keep in mind, this is all fractions of seconds, so it wasn’t like...
